The cooperative was founded in 1935 by a group of farmers who recognized the need for electricity in their homes and on their farms. Today, Meeker Cooperative continues to be owned and operated by its members, with a board of directors elected from among the membership.

These credits can be used as payment towards future bills or refunded back to members upon retirement.

In addition to providing reliable electricity service at competitive rates, Meeker Cooperative also offers several programs designed to help its members save energy and money. These programs include rebates for energy-efficient appliances and equipment such as LED lighting fixtures or geothermal heating systems.

Another important aspect of Meeker Cooperative's mission is community involvement. The cooperative sponsors local events such as county fairs or school programs that promote education about electrical safety or energy conservation practices.

Meeker Cooperative also supports local economic development initiatives through partnerships with local businesses or organizations that aim at creating jobs or improving infrastructure within their service area.

Overall, Meeker Cooperative Light & Power Association has been an integral part of rural communities in central Minnesota for over 80 years.
