Meeker Cooperative: Providing Reliable and Affordable Electricity to Rural Communities

Meeker Cooperative Light & Power Association is a rural electric cooperative that has been serving its members for over 80 years. With more than 7,600 members, Meeker Cooperative is committed to providing reliable and affordable electricity to rural communities in central Minnesota.

The cooperative was founded in 1935 by a group of farmers who recognized the need for electricity in their homes and on their farms. Today, Meeker Cooperative continues to be owned and operated by its members, with a board of directors elected from among the membership.

Meeker Cooperative's service area covers over 2,000 square miles of central Minnesota, including parts of Meeker, McLeod, Kandiyohi, Renville and Wright counties. The cooperative maintains more than 1,800 miles of power lines that deliver electricity to homes, farms and businesses throughout the region.

One of the key benefits of being a member-owner of Meeker Cooperative is access to affordable electricity rates. As a not-for-profit organization, any profits generated by the cooperative are returned back to its members in the form of capital credits.
