If you like to stroll and just check out cool places, give this a try.
There is a grid of canals near Venice Beach. You can walk along the canals check out the houses that line them. They range from Cottage style to Uber European Modern in design.
You may even get to watch muck rakers in action.
Life is good!

Beautiful place to walk around by yourself or with good company.

How do the Venice canals even exist? The fact that these canals are man-made make them one of the great wonders of the Los Angeles area. If you have not struggled the sidewalks in the evening, during sunset and seen these beautiful waterways surrounded by idyllic homes, it is something not to be missed.

Very clean pathway, peaceful and relaxing. Most parents let their young teens run around the walkway unattended... so be careful around corners.

Always a pleasure walk between those canals, relaxing expirence and very romantic.

These are not real proper canals, but there's still a special feel here. Each of the houses located here is immensely different from the next, from small cozy cottages to full on modernist pieces. There's not really much of a crowd, so enjoy a quite walk through the neighborhood and across the bridges, look for the occasional waterfowl in the quiet water. Remember it's a residential area, so be considerate.

Neat idea, but not much to see or look at. When we visited, it clearly hadn't been maintained much.

Hard to find. Impossible to find parking. Gross water. BUT... really pretty to look at.

Interesting, different architecture. The cabals seem dirty and a number of small boats in the water we're dirty and in disrepair.

Imprectable imitation of a series of canals along whose banks are developed hundreds and hundreds of houses leaning against each other and poorly held.but if they like them ..... It is worth to see it because, as they say, not all tastes I'm mint!

Beautiful channels! The place is walking walking so if you are in a car you should leave it close and go out and lose yourself among the channels. It feels an incredible calm while the ride lasts. Small and flirty houses. There are sidewalks on the side of the canals to cross it without problems. The best I saw in the area. A place to live.

Quaint little hideaway in an unexpected area, themed after its namesake. The houses are beautiful and we saw a few fish and ducks in/on the water. Well worth the stroll. Just remember to park your scooter on the main road as they won't lock inside the community.

Venice in miniature) is a beautiful place for a walk, for beautiful photosets, children are delighted.
But the local inhabitants of the houses are probably not very enthusiastic about the tourists who violate their unity with all this beauty (this is certainly the heart of this region) and there is also a very, very good home for shopping there)

Quaint network of canals that gives you a glimpse at what the area looked like at the beginning of last century! Look out for lots of silvery fish swimming around!

Beautiful place to walk around and take in the pretty sites. I think the water is low during the off season but still very attractive area. A lot of the houses have wonderful flowers growing along the fronts of their homes. The canals are such that they're layed out in a grid pattern. It's nice to walk down one way, cross over a bridge and then walk back up the other side. Then you can repeat that process again for each of the remaining fingers.

NOTE: No motorized scooters allowed...You must walk this area since the houses sit so close to the water, the sidewalks are very narrow!

I recommend it if you like quiet walks with manicured gardens.

Cruising the canals. The narrow paths and dark harrows abath and swifty we glide aling the south rafts until they dispel and disrupt and disbreak until we cant see enough to create.

A great neighborhood, very similar to the East Lake community of yorba Linda, the difference is that you can walk along the river and the type of house is more abundant. Given the proximity to Monica Beach, it's worth taking a look.

We were with family, and t was so fun, yet relaxing to wander around and ok at the bridges and the beautiful homes!

I highly recommend this place in marina del rey which is a great place to walk if you want then you can go to the beach

Such a weird project, but definitely worth a walk through this interesting area. Though I didn t get the feeling that the locals were too pleased about us enjoying the views. The water is shallow and not that great, but some interesting water craft, nice gardens and just general strangeness make it worth coming here at least once

Small canals. Beautiful houses and patios with lots of flowers and bushes. Very clean.
Sometimes you can see fishes. Ducks and other birds take it easy there.

The Venice Canals are a fun hidden gem of Los Angeles, The network of waterways is surprisingly extensive and the residents who live in the Canals actually have to manage the water levels regularly with flood control gates. The Canals are definitely worth checking out and provide a lengthy and scenic walk.

Definitely go at night during Christmas to see the lights and bridges . Nice thing to do especially if you have kids .

The water is a health-hazard, most of the houses seem like they've been converted to AirBnB tourist traps and the whole quaint SoCal silliness of the Canals has virtually gone. What is happening to LA?
