I tried to think of a reason this should have more than 1 star, and I couldn't. We made reservations days ago for my birthday. The place was busy and according to a server, our tables were being taken by a much larger party. The 7 of us were put where a 4 top would have been so things were crowded. The waitress came by and asked if anyone had gotten to us yet so obviously we were forgotten about. Our dish's came out at random times. Half our table was done eating while the other half waited for their food. A dish was forgotten about. Another made wrong. Nothing tasted good, or bad. It was just ok. Waitress was so busy that she came off as rude and rushed. We sat for such a long time waiting for our checks that we had to go to the front and get the waitress' attention. After this experience, I am very confused by the ratings this place has. Even though this place is a convenient drive for us, we rather go downtown and pay less for better food, service, and atmosphere.

This is NOT a 4 or 5 star place. I got one of the most expensive rolls and the quality was very poor. There were shellI pieces in the roll. Gross!!! I don t know how these places get all of these fake reviews that say the restaurant is great. Google needs to crack down on these fake reviews. Choose another place.

It is my opinion that green tea offers not only the best sushi in Asheville but the best Japanese restaurant experience. They have excellent sushi, excellent ambience, great cocktails and generous portions of food. The last time we were there, our waiter was stellar! He anticipated our needs was extremely polite and courteous. We look forward to returning again.

Our first time dining at Green Tea. We ordered a couple hibachi lunch specials which were great and came out very quickly. Our server, her name was Sheryl, she really went out of her way to make sure we were good. Will definatly suggest trying this place, we'll be back soon.

Edit: I feel the need to edit my review after last night's takeout (as seen in image). As mentioned below, I typically love Greenteasushi. However, last night's takeout was a HUGE failure in my book (P.S., I was Really looking forward to it). The only decent part was the Salmon sashimi. The hand roll was under filled (at first glance, it looks nice but once I dug in it was very underwhelming (never disappointed at Zen or Wasabi), the Escolar, which should practically melt in your mouth, had a tough skin to it and the Salmon Roe sushi only had a light layer of Roe on top - the rest was rice - so instead of that delicious Salmon Roe flavor, the rice was the star of the show. All in all, quite disappointing... Especially for the Greenteasushi quality standard I have become accustomed to. Following is my previous 4 star review after my initial visit...

I always initiate my relationship at a new sushi joint by trying the sushi only - after all, that's what it's all about, right? I base my experience off of texture, taste (including rice flavor) and potion (including fish-to-rice ratio). I had the Salmon, Salmon roe, Toro and Escolar as they are some of my fav's. I'd say they passed on all marks. The fish melted in my mouth beautifully, the taste was delicious (flavorful and not watered down at all) and the potions were generous - there's nothing worse than a skimpy amount of fish on to of a huge lump of rice. I can't wait to return to try some of their rolls.

The sushi was very generic and covered in sauces. It felt overpriced for the quality and the wait for service and some of the food was too long. One of the glasses was dirty and there was some sort of dressing on one of the edamame that wasn't on any of the other food which led me to believe someone with dirty hands handled the food.

Well-prepared East Asian dishes at surprisingly reasonable prices, especially given the high quality of the ingredients and the large portion sizes. We had General Tsao's Chicken, Mango Chicken, and a wide variety of very good sushi. One of our party is a sushi fanatic, and he gave the sushi a thumbs up. The chicken was all white meat, the mango was fresh and flavorful, the veggies were also fresh, the seasoning was mild but flavorful. Overall, much better than we expected. Will definitely go again.

The food was good, but it was a little pricey for pretty average Japanese food. The service however was subpar. Our waitress was very much in a hurry with us very rushed yet the food took an extraordinarily long time to come despite seeing others around us get their food promptly. At the end I timed her, she took 10 minutes in between dropping our bill and coming back to get our payment, and took 8 minutes to return with our card after taking it.

Good sushi. Bad hibachi. I m new to the area and I ve eaten here twice. The first time I had sushi and coconut shrimp. The sushi was tasty and fresh and the coconut shrimp was crunchy and delicious. Today, however, I decided to try their hibachi chicken with noodles instead of rice and a side of miso soup and spring rolls. The spring rolls were okay, clearly run of the mill freezer spring rolls, miso soup is also standard. The hibachi though, yikes. I ve never had hibachi that was soupy and greasy. The chicken is over cooked and swimming in oil and broth and the noodles are coated in oil. I had a few bites and packaged it back up. Not impressed with the quality.
