Awesome place to borrow tools. For the kents community
We love our community tool library! They have incredible volunteers with lots of helpful information. They always have the right tool for the job.
They are still there. They just change their hours often because it's volunteer run. Currently opening at 10 on Saturdays.
Open to residents of the Lents, Powellhurst-Gilbert, Pleasant Valley, Foster-Powell, Mt. Scott-Arleta, Brentwood-Darlington and Montavilla neighborhoods for nothing more than proof of residency and a state-issued picture ID, this is one community resource you won't want to miss.
Their excellent selection of tools and books is searchable on their website. The site even tells you if its available, but the hot items can disappear before you get there (I'm looking at you, electric lawnmowers.)
Be sure to tell the librarians if you think the tool need sharpening when you bring it back, or it may go out dull.
AND DON'T FORGET TO VOLUNTEER!
Love this place, glad the community has come together to make it happen and especially thankful for hard working volunteers who make the endeavor possible!
Such a great thing to have in the neighborhood! I've been going there a bunch since I moved in the area.
Volunteer run. Free borrowing of tools. Better than buying in a lot of cases.
Thank you for the tools! Home owners dont need to own everything! This is the great place to borrow working tools that you only need for a project once in a life time or every weekend. They always need volunteers!
Free tool borrowing for neighborhood residents-- what's not to love? Great for lawn mowers, power washers, or whatever else you need now and can't (or don't want to) shell out hundreds of dollars for.
Very nice people from the neighborhood providing a very useful service!
Great selection and helpful volunteers. It's so nice to be able to get the tools I need without having to own and store them.

Green Lents: Creating a Sustainable Community in Portland, Oregon
Green Lents is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to creating and supporting opportunities for the residents of the Lents neighborhood in Portland, Oregon. The organization was founded with the goal of making this community a thriving and sustainable place to live, work, and play.
The Lents neighborhood has long been known as an area that faces many challenges. It has struggled with poverty, crime, and lack of access to resources. However, Green Lents believes that these challenges can be overcome by working together as a community.
One of the ways that Green Lents works towards its mission is through community listening sessions. These sessions are designed to give residents an opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas about what they would like to see in their neighborhood. This feedback is then used by Green Lents to develop programs and initiatives that address the needs of the community.
Another way that Green Lents supports sustainability in the neighborhood is through its various programs. For example, they have a program called "Litter Patrol" which encourages residents to pick up litter around their homes and businesses. They also have a program called "Garden Mentors" which pairs experienced gardeners with those who are new to gardening so they can learn how to grow their own food.
In addition to these programs, Green Lents also hosts events throughout the year such as clean-up days and block parties. These events provide opportunities for neighbors to come together and build relationships while working towards common goals.
One of the most significant projects undertaken by Green Lents was the creation of Zenger Farm - an urban farm located on 24 acres within walking distance from many homes in our community! The farm provides fresh produce for local restaurants & markets while also offering educational programming for children & adults alike!
Overall, Green Lent's commitment towards creating sustainable communities has made it one of Portland's most respected non-profits organizations! Their dedication towards improving quality-of-life issues such as access-to-fresh-foods & reducing waste make them stand out among other organizations focused on similar goals!
