If you are going to be spending any time in Grand Lake, you will need to add this place to your to-do list! Super friendly atmosphere and the owner is wonderful. The food is set up buffet style and is chuck full of amazing home made items like pastries, scones, pies and one thing in particular that I hadn t had in years... scotched eggs! I ve barely scratched the surface of everything that was available. I will be back, most likely every time I m in Grand Lake ;)

Great breakfast buffet on the weekend. So many choices. Awesome staff. Told the owner / head chef that we would be back the next morning. She immediately started thinking of something different to put on the buffet, even though there was no way to try all of the items on the buffet that morning. Several options and she let us pick. Cant wait to go back!

Service is Ssssssssss.....l...ooooooooooo.....ww....... Think sloth in Zootopia. The food was good but took WAY to long to get to the table. The entire experience was poor. Walked in the door and had to beg someone to put me on the list then had to wait for a server and then the food, the food just took too long. EVERYONE in there waited way too long for food. Felt sorry for the servers who depend on table turns to make money. The entire experience took over an hour and a half. Restaurant is poorly managed. Went there because of the great ratings. However if you are visiting from out of town you can do better with another restaurant choice.

This place is the cats pajamas. Pun intended. Service was great from the minute we walked in the door. Their breakfast buffet has some awesome options, and everything was hot and fresh. Also, their pies are AMAZING. If you go for the buffet save room for the pie! Or better yet, start with the pie. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back.

The place was busy and extremely hot inside. 2 of us ordered biscuits and gravy and it arrived at room temperarture. We only ate about half of it because honestly I have had better biscuits and gravy from Wendy's or Hardees. My daughter was ok. Spent a fortune and left hungry.

This buffet is Awesome !
Very good food.
Service was friendly.
We had a 1/2 hr. wait for 3 of us but we were told to help ourselves to some coffee while we waited.

Stopped here by chance before heading off backpacking the trail loop over the next 6 days, and the thought of coming back and being able to experience their breakfast again might have been the only thing keeping our group going. We all had the Tom Cat the first time, and everything was absolutely perfect. When we returned that Saturday it turned out they had a buffet. Right when I thought their breakfast couldn't get any better, it did. The spread was amazing, and unlike most buffets the quality of food didn't suffer at all with the increased quantity. Plus they had pie on the buffet! Who does that? Most amazing place I've ever been, and will definitely return if I have the chance. And yes, they did use paper plates and cups for the buffet, but it's a small cafe in a mountain town with limited staff. It makes things easier for them to clean up more quickly and serve customers better. I don't understand why that is such a problem.

Fat Cat Cafe is Charming. I live in Minnesota but frequently visit Colorado, anytime anyone asks me for travel advice this place is always mentioned. One time I was craving Fat Cat so much that I drove straight out from Minnesota ate some Fat Cat cat as soon as they opened. Then drove home. Their buffet is amazing, on the weekends during the busy season they always have it going. Some of the best huevos rancheros I've had, and the homemade dessert table is outstanding!

Amazing Brunches! The best brunch I had ever! The owner Sally was very helpful in describing to us in magnificent detail what each dish was all about and how to have them.

One of my friends had a dietary restriction and she went through great pains to explain to him what to eat and what not to.

Between 6 people eating on the buffet, we had almost everything on the buffet and everyone was blown away!

A little something for everyone: gluten free, vegetarian, meat - you are covered.

We are trying to figure out how many more times we can come back before our vacation is over :)

Very, very good. Everything was amazing, especially the owner. We walked in with a group of 30, took up the whole place and were treated as if we were all of Sally's boys. Sally even gave me a bottle of her homemade hot sauce, which was amazing as well. If you are withing an hours drive of this place, you had better go eat there...

Buffet with lots of unique and typical breakfast food! Something for everyone who likes breakfast and about 12 different pies. I agree with what someone else posted "it's like grandma's cooking" and the cat figurines add to that charm. The owners are very kind and seem genuinely friendly. Not a bad price for all you can eat too!

I walked from Canada to get here (CDT hiker). This place is awesome. I happen to get here on the weekend when they were doing the Buffett. Only $15 and you eat until you puke. I was planning on just going in and out of Grand Lake but I might just stay another night so I can eat here again tomorrow

Fat Cat Cafe is doing their best to provide quality food and service in a season when Covid and wildfire smoke keep shifting the rules. I enjoyed the traditional breakfast. Eggs fried just as I ordered them, very tasty bacon, and not bad wheat toast. The ladies working today were trying hard and seeking to flex with customer requests. Indoor and outdoor seating options were a plus.

I know. $13.oo for Breakfast!!???

Yup! and when you've eaten all you want, you'll wonder why it was so cheap.

Tucked away in the tiny town of Grand Lake, Colorado, is the best breakfast ever. Make the trip, and you'll find a buffet to make a Hobbit's heart flutter. There are eggs, bacon and sausage, of course, along with Corned Beef Hash, hot and homemade croissants (like little clouds), Scotch Eggs, at least a dozed different pies and cakes, bread pudding, fabulous little cinnamon rolls and even more! All made from scratch and delicious.

Sally, the owner, not only cooks and bakes, but runs the operation, as well. Still, she took time to sit down and have a chat with us on a busy Sunday morning.

If you dont mind the drive, your tastebuds with thank you for this unexpected, completely satisfying treat.

You HAVE to come here for their weekend breakfast buffet. Came at around 9am on a Sunday morning and got immediately seated. Yes it s $17/person but they have so many choices and everything is so good! Real eggs, crisp bacon, legit pieces of breakfast sausage (not the junk you find at most breakfast places), and you can t skimp out on the dessert section with a very large assortment of pies, cakes, scones, and pastries. That s what makes this place unique is you get a filling of the salty stuff then finish it with some delicious pieces on the bakery side. Great service and great food!

The weekend breakfast buffet justifies the name of the place as that is what you are going to look like once finished with your breakfast. This is a completely delightful experience for the taste buds. Enormous variety and yet distinct flavorful taste of each dish. Scores of pies, puddings, cakes, croissants, cinnamon rolls and everything else that you can imagine probably. Add to this the freshness and the warmth of the owner Sally and all the other people who run the place. Any visit to Grand Lake or the Rocky Mountain National Park is incomplete without a Fat Cat experience.

We came through this town this past Saturday morning and stopped in for breakfast. Buffet was amazing. Great selection to choose from. They had little turnovers that were really good and everyone we spoke to was very friendly. Next time we're in the area we'll make sure to stop back in.

Our first time to grandby and our third breakfast, wish it had been out first! Restaurant is clean (masks worn correctly), staff provides great service. The food presentation and taste WOW! We left with pie to go as we were so full from breakfast. Don t forget to buy some of their homemade hot sauce (heat with a. Spicey kick)!

Came for the weekend buffet and was pretty underwhelmed. I will say their Scotch Eggs were very good, and the eggs/potatoes/bacon were cooked well. Their pastries (I tried a croissant and a cinnamon roll) weren't great. The black coffee was awful. I expected french toast or pancakes, but instead, they had a full dessert pie bar. If that's your thing, you'll probably enjoy it, but I don't have a huge sweet tooth, especially in the morning. I would probably return for a regular meal, but not the breakfast buffet.

Food was decent, nothing special. Staff was also pleasant.
We were waiting way too long for everything. Even to order drinks.
We had to ask for ketchup twice and one waitress was too lazy to fill a new ketchup bottle so she threw packets on our table. And not nearly enough for four people.
Finally, the entire restaurant felt like we were sitting on the sun, it was so hot.
Overall I was not impressed and I will not be returning.

Visiting from Minnesota with my wife for our honeymoon. Came in this morning after camping in the Rockies looking for some hot coffee and a simple meal. By far, the best food we've ever had! Staff are super friendly & accommodating. Food was so out of this world!!! 5/5 definitely will visit again!
