Buying our first home has been surprisingly easy, but closing has been miserable. We were supposed to close 2 days ago, but when we arrived to Empire, they informed us that our appraisal wasn't ready so our closing was delayed. They didn't bother to tell us, blaming the builder who in turn blamed Empire. We both took off work, drove an hour and a half in all, and had the utilities turned on at our property 2 days before we could close.
Most importantly, we had a babysitter on the day we were supposed to sign. This morning, nobody was available so we brought our son to signing. They're blaming their covid policy as to why they wont let us wait in the lobby to let myself and my wife sign. So I'm forced to wait in my truck with my son and then switch.
Closing has been terribly stressful and Empire has not attempted to help the situation at all. Excuses, blaming, and zero responsibility. No customer service at all. The only bright side is we should be done in about an hour.

Empire Title Co is by far the worst title company I have ever encountered. At closing, I realized there were easement I was not aware of. I asked to please hold of on closing & for them to please return my cashier's check until we figured out if I wanted to move forward. I asked over 30 times for the check and they refused to return it to me and asked for funding from the mortgage company when I advised to please hold off. Their customer service was by far the worst. Our closer was also giving us incorrect information as to what the docs were signing were ( I work in the industry) overall they ruined the purchase of my first home , I left in tears and without my check. thankfully my bank was able to cancel the check quickly. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! P.S. I recorded the entire conversation from the moment I walk into the title company until I left.

I m just about done, there was a mistake done when closing and they are trying to keep my escrow money telling me a check can t be cancelled or void so they can reissue your my actual insurance. Please if hear about this company font close with them it will save you the trouble if having to ask people to fix something that when we close they said it should be fine. I closed in October and here I am in January trying to still speak to them about a check reissue. Not to me but to my insurance or mortgage company

Empire is not the worst, but they are pretty dang close. They have been impersonal, inflexible and have some head scratcher policies. They even messed up my commission check!!

This was the most unprofessional, disorganized experience I've had with a title company in my 6 years of working in real estate. Communication was lacking the duration of the transaction. If given a choice, I would not use this company again. Update: 4/6/2020: My CDA has still not been paid out. It's been 6 days.
