So glad I stumbled upon this place walking around Lawrence reading newspapers in Soanish! When I see Afogado (An Italian drink: espresso over Ice cream) on a menu and books everywhere, I know I'm in my element! very cool vibe! Atmosphere seems happy and, books, coffee community center, ethnic food, local authors, Spanish and English! Friendly servers, food cooked in open space behind bar, also seats like regular restaurant so best of both worlds.

I wish I could leave 6 stars. Their bacon, egg, avocado, rice and hot sauce breakfast burritos are the reason I get up in the morning, and the atmosphere is friendly, creative and welcoming. Check this place out, to get some food, have a coffee, work on your laptop, or just go to read. A+

El taller is not simply a coffee shop, it's a staple of Lawrence and what it stands for. A vibrant diverse community of young people working hard for a better future. Come here and you'll enjoy an amazing meal and coffee while sitting next to the most creative individuals; look at the walls and feel mesmerized by the local art that is constantly changing while being served by a respectful staff that is representative of the population found in lawrence.

There's nothing better in town and if you're visiting Lawrence, you must come here!

Part of the Cafe Azteca family -- our favorite Mexican restaurant. The carnitas torta was terrific, the staff super-helpful and friendly, and the opportunity to linger with a coffee and my book was most welcome. BTW, parking looks tough but is actually not an issue as there is frequent turnover at nearby meters. Go here and go to Azteca -- really!

Went here for a second look party for med school. The food was authentic, the atmosphere and decor need a little updating and the staff was attentive. My only issue was the noise level, very hard to hear anyone just two feet in front of you. Overall great experience.

Been here a few times, always liked it, my most recent trip was rough though. Ordered my sandwich to go because I was planning on taking it to the train, I started to get nervous after about 30 minutes and asked the staff if he could check on it and I said had a train to catch in 30. After about 45 minutes a staff member came and told me they were out of an item on the sandwhich but I said It didn't matter because I had to leave. I didn't have time to ask for a refund, so I guess I just ordered a $13 iced coffee. Coffee was good, just make sure you have an hour to hour and a half to kill for a sandwich.

A little gem in downtown Lawrence on Essex Street. A restaurant, coffee shop, bookstore, small stage, and art gallery, on the 1st floor. A 2nd floor function room/performance and gallery space all in one.

Delicious, what I would call Mexican Fusion dishes are the main courses, with a large selection of unique appetizers. Sodas, coffee, shakes, and wine and beer are the beverages.

There's always friendly service, and it's a great place to meet and greet. The tables are covered with brown paper and you're encouraged to write and draw on the surface. There's board games to play, talent shows, poetry readings, gaming tournaments, pop-up shops, short lectures and discussions, and alternative bands. This is the place to be. Please check it out.

The food is always good and the desserts are amazing, service is lacking a lot, mostly teens and young people who work there who seem to be more interested in hanging out than good customer service. Their is one server who is good, young lady skinny with long hair and the female cook makes the best food. Its a nice spot with good vibes and it's LGBT friendly, service does need improving though.

Super chill, laid-back spot. Yummy food, nice layout, small selection of books for sale and I loved that they have a community artist shelf once a month with that artist's book picks. Kid friendly and the layout and bathroom was accessible for my daughter who has cerebral palsy and cannot walk. Would definitely come again.

Definitely one of my favorite places in Lawrence. The hospitality matches the true heart of the city and the colorful artwork around, tied with the memorable tunes, makes the place a real wonder. No matter what I'm looking for; a quick coffee or a lunch with a group of friends, The Workshop has me covered! A must stop for tourist, or long time members of the community looking to spread a word or two.

Great spot in downtown Lawrence. Cozy cafe with great food (try the tostones or the honey latte) and a small book selection as well. Nice place to sit and do some work or hang out with friends. It gets busy so service can be slow sometimes, but the employees are always friendly.
