The team at Video Marketing far exceeded our expectations. Not only did they produce a quality product, but I also felt they genuinely cared for in the process. No question was too trivial. Their professionalism as well as their desire to make us comfortable throughout the process was too exceptional.

In 2012, I was raped at Truman State; it was my freshman year of college. I completed my degree program at the University of Missouri -- Kansas City (UMKC).

My experience is not unique.

Truman State has an excellent academic reputation but there is a toxic, unspoken party culture. Beware.

> Zero care for the mentally ill student populace.
> Students I knew developed alcoholism and drug use habits to cope with the miserable experience.
> My own department allowed me to spend my first year in isolation with no reach out.
> Minimal resources for first generation students
> Busy work masquerades as a learning experience
> Hostile and elitist mentality
> Dreary surrounding location

If you are thinking about this university, I implore you to reconsider.

Excellent school when I went there in the mid 2000s, and is still an excellent school. Kirksville itself has really grown as a town in the past decade, so there is plenty to do nearby. Throw in a great state park and other outdoor recreational activities, you have the makings of a fun, small(er), and meaningful academic experience.

As it was 30 yeas ago when I attended, Truman is still the jewel of the Midwest. As an employer, I actively seek graduates because of the type of student and individual that Truman attracts. Having the opportunity to go to campus multiple times a year and getting to interact with students always leaves me impressed. The campus is amazing and really caters to the variety of ways students want to learn. The faculty is top shelf and are invested in seeing their students achieve. I would make the same decision today I did many years ago. Truman State!

This college was practically all Greek and students were prone to horrific binge drinking on the weekends which was overlooked by both the university itself and the local authorities. I would say this university may produce fine students....with alcohol problems. The academics were great, but the social atmosphere was cliquish and more like high school than an acclaimed top notch Midwestern university. I was greatly disappointed with my experience. I got 60 hours out of it. However, as Southerner, I just didn't quite fit in. I suggest unless you are from the Midwest, don't waste your time. The school looks great on paper, but is a true disappointment. If you aren't interested in studying all week, then binging on the weekends, save your money.

I continue to be impressed by the caliber of people drawn to this place -- students, faculty, staff,, alumni -- who are ambitious, creative, and passionate about contributing to their fields, interdisciplinary lifelong learning, and shared success. I've found the Truman culture to be collaborative and rigorous, and in conversation I'm often humbled by students' abilities to critically explore concepts and eloquently present their ideas. The Truman community thrives on curiosity-driven pursuits and active extracurricular involvement. It's a safe environment to question, explore, grow. The mid-sized campus is ideal for building strong connections with others while still offering plenty of opportunities to experience new things, and its location allows the vibrant Truman community to really shine.

Truman State University offers a quality education at a very reasonable price. While the classroom experience taught me how to gather information, analyze facts, and express myself clearly, the people are what makes a Truman education truly unique. I've maintained my connection to the University through graduate school and now in my professional role with the U.S. government. I can't thank the University community enough for putting me on the path to success.
