They offer a few ferries to choose from depending on your destination and time you want to leave. Bring your car with you and drive on or park in it the garage across the street and walk on. They have an on shore deli to grab a quick bite from before you board or after you've docked. On the boat they offer top deck seating for a beautiful view and a relaxing ride. Down below they have a snack bar with a variety of foods like soups, sandwiches, pastries and candy with a variety of drinks as well. They also have a bar and TV so you can watch the news or keep score on your game. Staff is friendly & informative. Prices have gone up over the years but they have a membership that offers discounts sometimes. It would be nice to see the boats get a makeover.
Greatest way to cross the sound, no Connecticut traffic!
Great Option for traveling to/from Long Island, NY and New England!
Easy way to get onto Long island if you are going to be easy of the city. It's a bit pricey but the time you save over driving through NYC makes it worth it.
Great way to travel with a baby and a dog for a relaxing trip to long island
For an extra $15 you can get preferred status. 1st on and 1st off the ferry with your vehicle.
When traveling south from New England back to the middle of Long Island there's nothing better then a beautiful boat ride and the scenic North Fork and not having to deal with I-95 traffic or taking Bridges and having to deal with rush hour traffic.
They get the job done with efficiency. Never have issues with how this company gets me across the water.
Nice journey across. Food options onboard are pretty grim.
Great experience with this company, very well organized, food wasn't that bad , will recommend.
Good service. 10X better then NYC traffic. And a full bar and kitchen on board. Totally worth it and often can catch a great sunset/sunrise
Just got off, little rocky as it's an overcast windy day but I love how you can sit at the bar and have a drink and order lunch!!! Definate time saver!!
Simply great. Pay the extra money to go in and come out first.
Reservations were canceled due to a nor easter which is understandable. What was absolutely unacceptable was not receiving any notification of cancellation. When I arrived at the ferry, I was greeted by a worker who had debatably the worst attitude I ve seen in a long time, and was absolutely no help. The person I spoke to on the phone wasn t much better. It probably would have been less of a headache to just drive.
Personal service. Great views. Usually not crowded
Too pricey and on board food leaves a lot to be desired.
While expensive, it's nice to sit and relax while traveling.
Great experience, traveling from Long Island to Connecticut, the boat transport the car too.
I'm normally a Port Jeff Ferry user, that is the Ferry that takes me closest to where I normally go on the Island, this time I had to go to the North Fork so I decided to go Orient point. This was a "Help my kid move" trip and I have to say it went well. If I have to go to the North Fork again I will likely go with this Ferry, it was way better than driving on the Island.
Always a great experience - in the 35+ years I've been taking it, it's never once been late. Can't say that about ANY other form of public transportation! Dedicated, hardworking staff (literally - tough physical jobs in all weathers), professional, etc. Such a relaxing, scenic way to get to/from New England
If you don't want to drive true the city is perfect also you don't put all That mileage on the car
This was my first time on the ferry during Covid and everything went very smoothly. Tables and chairs were all cleaned. Staff all had masks on and every other table was closed off to keep people apart. Definitely felt safe
Fastest, best way to get to Long Island, or Block Island
The orient point side is great, but the new London side is HORRIBLE. WORST customer service I ve everr witnessed. Staff abuses their authority and takes it to a whole other level. I witnessed a terribleee incident occur in front of children families etc...and all I can say is that I will never again take this ferry from new London. EXTREME ABUSE OF POWER FROM NEW LONDON SIDE.
Used it many times with my 50k pound truck no issues at all
The best! Totally professional from the ticket takers to the crew. Shipshape bow to stern. Knockout views from on deck or in the cabin. Clean and safe. We love CSF.
Staff is wonderful. If you arrive early they try to get you on earlier. Friendly. Trustworthy
A great resource for Southern New England and Eastern Long Island alike! Friendly and courteous staff make you truly feel welcomed aboard. Casino promotions with mohegan Sun and foxwoods literally pay for themselves!
I take the ferry several times a year and I'm always impressed at how efficient it is. There are never any surprises and the service is very reliable. I love that I can bring my dog on the car ferry, and the staff always gives my pup a warm hello and ear scratch. Traveling on the east coast is rarely stress-free, so I take the chance to enjoy the break from driving and the scenery when I'm on the ferry!
It's a boat. The fresh air is worth the trip....almost.
Great ferry service from New London, CT to Orient Point, LI!
Nice ferry, loaded quickly, spacious..not over crowded, good service, unloading was smooth
If you live more towards the middle or western side of Long Island and need to get to Rhode Island or greater New England area, this is the way to go, especially when traveling with children. The drive to the ferry is more relaxing, the ferry ride is only 1.5 hours to New London. I hate driving through Connecticut or going over the throgs neck. People drive like animals and it s just unpleasant. If you can avoid it, why not? Also price wise, you end up spending comparable amounts of money on the ferry ticket compared to the cost of tolls, gas, food stops, etc.
The only service between eastern CT and the North Fork. Fortunately, it's good! Nothing glamorous, but clean and safe with a very thorough schedule.
The only way to get to Long Island from Eastern Connecticut.
The trip was nice, being on a motorcycle meant I was one of the first to board. They put you in some weird spaces but they make sure its a place where the bike will not tip over. They take extra care to make sure they place you appropriately. The food on board was nothing amazing but good to grab a quick bite. They had outlets on board so that you were able to charge your devices. Well worth the cost if going to Long Island to avoid NYC
This ferry line is the worst !!
The reservation department does not communicate with the people who direct you to the line
The Bridgeport-port Jefferson line is much better
Great way to travel if you live on long Island to New England. Its the same amount of time driving, but you can relax for the 2 hours instead of sitting in traffic.
Fast and easy ferry, helpful crew. Been riding these boats for over 30 years, the experience never gets old.
Nice ride. Good discount if you become a rewards member (frequent floater?), which is free. Great service on the boat.
A little older of a ship, but really fun! Took from Orient Point to New London, coming from South Hampton. Was 2 minutes longer of a journey, but less traffic probably less time! And relaxing. Highly recommend!
My husband and I had such a amazing time and would love to book for another time.
Clean ferries and courteous staff inside, food is expensive
I have enjoyed this ferry twice in the past 3 weeks.
Great way to cross the sound at lowest possible stress . Nice ride if weather is calm. Converse is also true. Food is available on board and actually pretty good. Fare for a car includes driver fare but others have to pay as well. If your destination is eastern Long Island its perfect
It's like a vacation whenever you go on one of the ferries. Sure beats driving west just to go east!
Easy to keep social distance as not as many people are traveling during covid
Well-run ferry. Did not make a reservation, still got me on the ferry to Long Island despite being on standby. Surprised at their cordiality ( dealing with lots and lots of people is stressful )
