Enormous room well furnished. Train noise throughout the night. Somehow a wasp in the sheets managed to ambush me. Poor fitness room. Architecture has distinct character.
The rooms are excellent. Luxury soaking tub. Nicely styled. It had a nice large bathroom. Comfortable bed and pillows. The service at the front desk was accommodating and brought us complimentary toothbrushes and toothpaste upon our request. Their breakfast system is cute. The breakfast was pretty decent for a continental breakfast, but the orange juice though very good was very small and the muffin had a good taste but was a but dry. All in all the hotel is awesome.
Love this hotel. Comfortable beds, beautiful rooms, excellent bathtub. Cute dog sometimes in lobby :) will drive out of my way to stay here and visit beautiful Lynchburg.
Great hotel with a lot of character. They pay attention to the little things to make your experience a truely delightful stay. Waterstone is a great pizza restaurant attached. Great location in downtown lunchburg with views of the James River. I would highly recommend.
Nice large room and bathroom. Enjoyed our stay. Don't try to eat late on Sunday the attached restaurants randomly close early. Walk to RA bistro.
Great place to say! The easy access to Waterstone restaurant was nice.
Beautiful hotel, warm reception. The rooms are very large, high ceilings, mix of antiquity and modern. We are returning guests.
Such a beautiful, cool hotel.. I actually smiled when I walked into our room! Our room was spacious, with exposed brick walls, beadboard ceilings and big beams! The bed was very comfy and having additional places to lounge in the room was an added perk! I also loves the shoebox breakfast, very cute!
Amazing experience here , with shoebox breakfast and thank you for being the ONLY Tesla friendly hotel in town. Two chargers are a plus! And shoemaker restaurant is amazing also! Nicole was wonderful! Thanks everyone for the great experiences. I had to stop here again on my roadtrip back across the county even tho it was out of the way just so I could have the experience again! The rooms and high exposed ceiling are such an amazing vibe. I could go on and on about this hotel and staff! My favorite hotel experience in the whole United States
Always love staying here. The staff is always accommodating..a pleasure every time!
I loved this hotel. It was a charming old shoe factory. I loved in the room the wall was the original brick. I wish the tub was big enough for too. The staff was very friendly!! I also wish they had smoking rooms so we didn't have to always go outside. We had dinner at The Waterstone restaurant on the 1st floor. The food was amazing. I would stay there again!!
A wonderful spot rich with the history of the area in every corner of the building. Also nestled just a short walk away from many great restaurants and bars.
The Craddock Terry Hotel was super nice and fancy. It was very clean and in a quaint old building that used to be a shoe factory. I love this hotel and would highly recommend it!
Accommodations were nice. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lobby was very heavily scented. Walking distance from restaurants. Make sure you use the safe in the room..... jewelry went "missing"
I was recently a guest at this hotel while visiting a local leather supplier. They raved about this boutique hotel and insisted I stay here. The service was second to none and the hotel itself is spectacular. The rooms were beautiful and true to the architecture of the region and the authenticity of the original building. The wood ceilings in the rooms are amazing and the brick is very warm and inviting. I would suggest anybody in the region always go to this hotel first. Make sure to book in advance because there aren't that many rooms.
Just visited the exterior. The riverwalk was beautiful, overlooking the James River, and loved seeing the big display shoes attached to the hotel building.
This is the only place to consider in downtown Lynchburg
Love it!! So cute and quiet! Love the little details from the breakfast to the shoe tree in our room for Christmas! We will be back!
Outstanding service and accommodations, one of the best hotels I have stayed in.
We had dinner at Shoemaker's, which is a fine dining restaurant, and had an amazing experience. The service was stellar and the food was incredible. I had one of the best steaks of my life!! 5/5 would go again.
Beautiful hotel. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The location is great in downtown Lynchburg within walking distance to many great resturants. The hotel rooms are charming and unique. The suites are luxurious and well appointed. This hotel is one of my favorites. Thank you Craddock Terry Hotel for a wonderful long weekend.
Had a fantastic stay. All staff are so friendly. Sarah at the front desk was especially knowledgeable and professional. She introduced Penny Loafer, one of the adorable resident pups, and gave some very helpful suggestions on places to see in Lynchburg.
The room was gorgeous, it had very tall ceilings and windows. I wish I could have taken the bed home, it was way too comfortable. Waterstone served a perfect dinner downstairs and that was the cherry on top. I can't wait for a return visit to the Craddock Terry sometime.
Stayed for a New Years Eve staycation. Beautiful rooms, nice staff...looking forward to our next visit.
Just a really nice Hotel, lots of history, lots of style, incredible staff.
We love this hotel in downtown Lynchburg. Great restaurants nearby, pet friendly. Huge rooms, great bathrooms and beds. It can sometimes be noisy above the restaurant Waterstone if it's a weekend night. Ask for a higher floor if you're a light sleeper.

Love this place. Great location and service, the rooms are beautifully appointed, and the design/decorations are a reflection of the fact that the building used to be a shoe factory. I highly recommend this hotel
The staff at this establishment went above and beyond for me. I attended an event hosted at the hotel. My son lost my key to the house. We didn't realize this information until we were back home 4 hrs away. I called and one of the front desk attendants took the time to look and found my key. This is what I call exceptional customer service. Thank you so much!
We had a seven person birthday party with appetizers, cocktails, a bottle of wine, and dessert. The experience was flawless. Our server was friendly, informed, and attentive. The food, of course, was amazing.
Amazing staff, great history, fabulous architecture and an adorable dog. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area.
We rolled into town on our quest to explore Virginia history without any prior reservations. The red shoe on the facade drew us in. The front desk staff was exceptionally helpful. They accomodated us in every way possible. The room was large and the bed very comfy.. the bathtub large enough that my husband could soak his achy shoulders. We rented their snazzy bikes the next morning for a spin on the bikepath below the hotel. Loved that.. Trains were not an issue for us. A continental breakfast of a just thawed muffin, small bottle of orange juice, a banana, and a yoghurt are delivered to the room in an old fashioned shoebox one sets outside the door the night before. Its a clever idea but we felt it to be an anticlimax to an otherwise classy act. I would suggest to go back to the drawing board. Maybe a small couch table could be added and/or small paper plates to eat off.
Loved our stay and will return..
Beautiful place, went to look for a wedding venue and everything was amazing
So beautiful!...my daughter's wedding weekend and it was perfect. Anna was wonderful and the place is so unique...the food was delicious!!...definitely some where u would want to stay!!!!
Stayed here during our honeymoon. We were booked in a king suite on the 4th floor in the corner of the building, and we had an amazing view of the James River and surrounding area. Very clean, very comfortable, and looks like as much as it costs to stay there. Huge HUGE space. Living room area separate from the bedroom; bathroom with huge vanity space closed off from shower and toilet area; hot tub bathtub, standing shower; huge bedroom with TV, fireplace, ginormous windows with a great view, extremely comfortable bed. Definitely more historic--if you're looking for a fresh, bright, and new hotel, try The Virginian up the street. Craddock Terry will meet your needs if you're looking for a warm, historic place to stay.
Spent fantastic 2 nights. Staff is awesome and hotel is spectacular. Close to James River Heritage bike trail which we rode.
Beautiful furnishings and thoughtful touches throughout. Excellent use of historic buildings.
We stayed during the holidays and had a little tree to decorate in our room. You order breakfast by placing an old wooden shoebox outside your room. They fill it with pastries, yogurt and fruit in the morning. Too cute.
Went for Romantic weekend to celebrate our anniversary. The room and shower where amazing. Really like the shoe box breakfast. So I downgrade for two reasons. First the window was not clean wehn I rolled up the window shade found dead bug in a web. The second is the sounds proofing left something to be desired. We could hear conservation in building not sure if was above or beside us. Adtionaly the train come by blowing it's whistle it is really. Neither of these should stop us from coming back.
The staff here is amazing, checked in with no reservation for hotel or restaurant, took care of both, was able to set room up within a few minutes, beautiful room, lovely atmosphere.
I don't remember very much as it was a social event but I remember it being quite beautiful inside.
One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in in the US. The themed decor, the rooms, the beds (oh my)...it was a pure delight!!
Lovely! Wonderful room, clean, comfortable, loved the shoebox breakfast. We will be returning!
Shoemakers restaurant was nice. I had a really good steak and my wife the best crab cakes she has ever eaten. I will definitely go back. It's a fine dining experience like no other. Great staff, food and ambiance.
Have always enjoyed dining here. Hope the Standards of Excellence continues since Parry Restaurant Management will no longer be a part of this operation!
Went for a wedding rehearsal dinner, food was delicious, service was great, very polite. Room was very nice.
Excellent location in downtown Lynchburg, Va. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Excellent room design with lofty ceilings and trendy shoe factory memoirs- Victorian decor, cozy, and convenient. Literally one- of-the Best pet friendly hotels. This is a Must-Do. Big Thanks. Great work!
5 stars! Kelli was very welcoming. Very very clean. You could smell the freshness as we walked into our very large room. We opted for a bottle of champagne with our room (worth it). On our arrival it was already elegantly placed on ice waiting to be popped. The bed was very comfortable as were the couch and chair. Extra large bathroom with his and her sinks, giant bathtub, and stand up shower with a rain shower head. Room service is available as well. 5 star hotel with 3 star prices. Incredible value. Forget the Hilton, stay here! It is very apparent that hotel manager and staff truly care about your stay. Oh, did I mention it is a renovated shoe factory? Exposed brick and beams...where else can you find that?! Well done, Craddock. We'll be returning.
The staff were all very nice. The champagne we ordered was great and everything we requested was delivered quickly. The hotel was very pretty and I loved the Halloween decorations they set up. The bed was super super comfortable. The reason for 3 stars: for one, VERY loud construction being done right outside. I know this isn t the hotel s fault, but it was pretty upsetting to not be able to sleep in past 7 am. Also, the shower was not cleaned well. Grout needed to be cleaned, and some of the wallpaper in that bathroom was stripping off. The temperature in the shower would also randomly fluctuate. I had it set to hot but it would randomly get luke warm or cool for about 10 seconds on and off. Overall I d definitely recommend the hotel, it s just hard to justify paying as much as I did and to have those issues.
Absolutely gorgeous place to stay! The staff are super nice and helpful and room was very clean! Only walking distance to local restaurants. Can't wait to go back!
My 2nd time staying here. I will find a way to stay here if we are going to Virginia. The staff is extremely friendly and the rooms are GORGEOUS! My go to place!
The Good:
Nice rooms with vaulted ceilings, comfortable bed with multiple pillow options, large shower, great BeeKind shower products, cute details of being a formal shoe factory.
The Bad:
Loud train that wails at all hours of the night. Construction that starts at very early hours in the morning. Extremely thin walls and ceilings (everything next door and above can be heard!). With covid restrictions, rooms are not cleaned during stays. The breakfast delivered in the morning, described as a muffin, whole fruit, yogurt and juice, albeit convenient, is not worth the $6, especially since it was only a chobani yogurt, a $0.50 vending machine pastry, and orange juice... no muffin or whole fruit.
Unfortunately, all the bad outweighed the good during my stay due to lack of ability to sleep related to noise. Wish this wasn't the case because the hotel itself is charming, especially with Penny Loafer the doggo walking around.
Beautiful rooms, excellent food, very professional staff! I'll return when the need arises
Bar was average, wait staff in the restaurant was great.
Wonderful. Would come back to Lynchburg just to stay here. Such great amenities. Especially Jen, wonderful staff here.
This is a very nice, unique, hotel with personality. Every room is different, with a touch of the past coexisting with modern amenities.
The beds are soft and comfortable. The bathrooms are spacious and nice. The breakfast is unique where they deliver it to your room on request. It has been a croissant with brie cheese, yogurt, fresh fruit (mostly melon), and orange juice. The food quality is decent, but not great, and it's more quantity than I really need, so I hate wasting some.
The staff has been friendly and helpful when needed.
Overall, it's a great place to stay for business or pleasure.
A nice hotel and is within walking distance of lots of restaurants. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The employees are friendly and helpful. I left some things in my room and the called to let me know. I was able to pick them up on my way home. A class act.
Shoemakers inside the hotel was a superb restaurant. The food was delicious and I would definitely go back!
Beautiful hotel, great location downtown and by the riverwalk. Bathrooms well appointed. Could hear trains and the restaurant right below us but the most comfortable bed ever made up for it. Would definitely stay there again.
Absolutely fabulous hotel! Quaint and cozy; super comfortable rooms and amazing staff. Great spin on breakfast with it being served in the shoe boxes. Also a great place to get food because of their pizza place and fine dining restaurant downstairs.
If you love a hotel with a great history, delicious food, and comfortable living spaces, this is the hotel for you!
I've never stayed at the hotel, but I appreciate their hosting of a Christmas tree lighting for downtown Lynchburg. It was a nice event.
Converted shoe factory, with 20 foot ceilings. Makes a great hotel. Not your cookie cutter Hilton
Lovely hotel. My room was large with a well appointed bath. Great toiletries, large shower and clean comfortable beds. A small breakfast is delivered to the room in a shoe box because the hotel was a former shoe factory. There is a restaurant but I had no time to try it. The town is right outside the hotel. I would definitely recommend it but not in the summer. Virginia is hot hut the air conditioning was fine. Reasonable rates and solid management.
Beautiful place with lots of character!! Food was excellent and staff was very efficient and friendly!!
The hotel is so charming and full of really interesting details; however, upon arrival to our room we discovered a rather big wet spot on the floor that turned out to be coffee. It was about the size of a medium towel, so I m not sure how that was missed during clean up. There were also a couple random bobby pins on the floor, which further leads me to believe it wasn t cleaned thoroughly. Also, our door knob was almost completely falling off. Despite these few oopsies, I still would recommend the hotel. The staff was super nice, and overall the rooms were extremely comfortable. It is also in a prime location right downtown.
Gorgeous hotel with views of the James River. And the best part: Pet friendly! Will definitely be coming again and staying in the future.
I love it!!! It's one of my favorite places to go!!!!
I had a great time at the Craddock Terry. I was there for a business retreat. The staff were all very professional and helpful. The services (dining and cleaning) were top notch. I would absolutely recommend this experience to someone else!
The historical value alone was worth the trip but add the hospitality of the staff and beauty if the rooms and its a moment to remember
Went here for my honeymoon. Suite 201 is on its own floor and the entire hotel is GORGEOUS. Very unique hotel with exposed rock and brick walls. The staff was very kind and helpful and I got to crash in the most comfortable bed in the world. I wish I could live there for the rest of my life. 10/10 would totally do again.
