I am interior designer and recently completed a kitchen and bath project with Chown. Steven, the associate with whom I worked, went above and beyond to make sure my experience (and my client's) was a good one. From sinks to hardware pulls, he was terrific about educating us on the pros and cons of the various styles/ brands. I appreciated his honesty (if he didnt know something he'd find the answer for us), integrity and sense of humor. I will use Chown for all of my projects moving forward.

It's amazing to hear the story of Chown Hardware and how they have been family owned for over 100 years. That is something you just don't hear anymore. If you want quality and excellent customer service I recommend Chown Hardware!

Ordered a sink grid in April, here we are half way through July and it's still on back order, uncertain as to when it will arrive. Would have been nice to have been told that the item was unavailable and the delivery date is unknown. At least we could have reconsidered and gone somewhere else where they could confirm whether they could get the product or not before paying for it. Instead we were told a pick up date shortly after we ordered and paid for it, then it's gets pushed back and pushed back and pushed back. No follow up with emails or phone calls to let us know "Oh by the way, this is what is going on."

I m not a customer but, I was almost killed by two of your drivers. I was driving north on Highway 101 in tillamook when two vans, license plates chown4 and chown9, pulled out in front of me. I had to lock up my brakes with my daughter in the car and it scared the hell out of her. Then the driver of #4 either flipped me off or waved me off out the window. I don t know your company or the people driving for you, but they are going to kill someone. As a delivery driver myself, I understand that getting to your stops as fast as possible is always a priority. But that doesn t make my daughters or my life less valuable. I really think the driver of #4 should be fired, if not both of them. It s a shame that a paycheck is more important to them than the safety of the people using the same roads.

We purchased our hardware for our bathroom remodel, as well as a soaking tub, about 4 years ago. Carla was great to deal with the first time around.

However, she was even better when we had to come back because the tub had a strange crack in the bottom. Thankfully, she suggested a higher quality tub when we picked the tub out to begin with, so that might have something to do with how the warranty work went down.

She contacted the manufacturer and worked with them to remedy the problem, in a pretty fast manner, to my surprise.

It was a bonus to get to work with her both times, but I feel pretty confident Chown would have stood behind the tub, regardless.

I came here to find replacement hinges for my cabinets. Marc was so helpful. While Chown did not carry what I was needing, Marc printed off the names/addresses/phone numbers to two businesses that would. I was impressed with the level of customer service I received.

I am a local interior designer and was having trouble finding just the right chandelier for a particular project. I knew I needed something unusual and spectacular. I had exhausted all my sources and still couldn't find just the right one. Enter Steven from Chown. I described what I was looking for - style, size and finish. Told him what the space looked like -contemporary gender neutral master bedroom full of color, textures and patterns. He suggested some lines he thought would be a good fit and alas we found "the one"! It was perfect. Steven was amazing to work with. So much fun but still the epitome of professionalism. He has since helped me with a few projects. My clients love him!

Everybody needs door fixings! These folks'll help ya get there! Call ahead and ask what measurements you need before going in.

EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE . I CALLED THEM LOOKING FOR PLUMBING PARTS . MOLLY A CONSULTANT WITH CHOWN , HELPED ME LOCATE MY PART AND DROP SHIPPED THEM TO MY LOCATION IN HERE IN NEWPORT OR. MOLLY HAD GREAT FOLLOW UP , GOOD PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE & VERY NICE TO WORK WITH . I WILL BE USING THEM IN THE FUTURE & WILL REFER THEM TO ANYONE IN THE AREA . THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN A "BIG BOX" STORE AND CHOWN HARDWARE . WE NEED MORE LOCALLY OWNED STORES & WITH AWESOME EMPLOYEES LIKE MOLLY . GOOD JOB.

Horrible customer service. Had the sku numbers of the in-stock items in hand, waited over 30 minutes at the front counter and was totally ignored. One sales person called & asked a manager to come up to help us and they were too busy to come up to the showroom to help. Waisted 45 min of our Saturday and finally left empty handed.

One of the best hardware stores in the portland area. Lots of options and great help!

We don't like Chown as much as we used to. Good reputation and customer service, but the showroom is pretty trashy and disorganized. There are competitive alternatives worth checking out these days given the prices.

Extremely good to work with people here. Treated me more than fairly and are experts in their field. If you are looking for a professional to engage you during difficult decision making times these guys and gals are great. Thank you to them and Doorworks for making that part of my project a success.

I'm not a lock expert, but from what I can tell these guys are top notch. Good customer service and will help you figure things out of you need help.

Chown is a great business to work with. I've depended on them for several projects and they never let me down. They know their stuff. Paula in sales is a real expert and a pleasure to work with.

Everyone here is so nice. They will leave you alone to browse to your heart's content, but they are easily accessible if you need assistance or recommendations. I've been helped on multiple occasions by Doug Madden and Nathaniel Chown and they are both great. Also, returns are super easy within 45 days.

I just stopped by the Northwest Portland location as I needed a door knob and Lock with short notice. Mariah Let me interrupt her and went beyond good customer service to find me a nice set, had it keyed to match our front door with extra keys all in a short amount of time and with a smile, amazing customer service!!
