Not what it used to be. Stopped by on a whim and ordered steak picado with rice and beans. Steak had no flavor like they totally forgot the seasoning. Server was so short with words and turned away as soon as she could. There were about 5 tables being serviced so I'm not sure why she wasn't very courteous. The other guests in my party did not have any complaints about their food so they just must have been off on my dish. Either way, I'd totally keep going back.

The good first, Casa Alvarez for many years was one of our favorite restaurants especially when we treated are friends out to eat at your spot. I stopped dining there for a period of time because an integrity issue involving one of the owners, but the food was good and my family always missed the food. However. the food has become Bland and the menudo has become more chewy and taste like it came straight out of a can... Meat not completely cooked.. Bland and Thin... Have you hired another set of cooks?? The pandemic may have reduced your staff and i feel bad for the financial stress you're dealing with, but please don't let it affect your reputation for tasty Mexican food. I've ordered out several times since you shut down the inside dinning and the quality is not the same. if i rated you then and now 9.5 is then and 5.0 is now. I will wait until you open back up to come back and get some of the Mexican food that appeared to be cooked with LOVE...

This is a one of the few local restaurants which survived in Rowland Heights so called 'Little Taipei' Like their authentic Mexican food. Reasin I gave 4 stars, their seafood. Seafood are little disappointed every time when I ordered. So I stopped ordering seafood after 3rd try. Other than that I like this authentic restaurant.

Had the most amazing dinner at Casa Alvarez. Shrimp cocktail was perfectly seasoned with just a hint of horseradish, albondigas soup with seasoned meat balls to perfection, tostada salad with the juiciest of carne asada, and hubby enjoyed a delicious Chile verde wet burrito topped with eggs. Overall a great meal. Homemade salsas, margaritas, and flan pushed it over the top to fabulous. Highly recommend this place.
