My stay at Aunty Lydia’s Ohana was truly special. This former family home is charming, well-maintained, and in a prime spot. You can easily walk to the beach, as well as local shops and restaurants. The area offers plenty of activities, from surfing lessons and beach days to hiking the Na Pali Coast and visiting Limahuli Garden. Exploring the town was also a highlight. Hanalei is absolutely stunning, and the entire experience was the best part of our ten days in Hawaii. We loved it so much that our only regret was leaving; we easily could have stayed three or four extra days.

Our rental was even more stunning in person than the photos suggested, situated just a short walk from the beautiful Hanalei Bay. We were initially surprised that the neighbors share the lot, but they were incredibly friendly and respectful of our space. The house is fully stocked with everything you need for the beach, and the chairs were a huge plus. Since we love to cook, I’d recommend bringing your own spices, as the kitchen only provided salt and pepper. It felt like home the moment I walked in. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again—maybe even for longer next time!

The local atmosphere, with its calm island vibe and gentle rooster crows, helps blend in the quirks of the space. We even tried dinner at the nearby Ama restaurant and loved the Asian noodles. It was a safe, peaceful retreat, and we’ll always have fond memories of Hanalei.

We had visited the island before but never explored this area, and this well-priced home was the perfect way to start our spring break. The location is incredibly convenient, just a short walk to a beautiful spot on Hanalei Bay. The host thoughtfully provided beach chairs, boogie boards, coolers, and mats, so we didn’t have to pack the essentials. The house is also within walking distance to town, though be aware that since it sits right off Kuhio Highway, there are no sidewalks, making evening walks a bit tricky. Alternatively, the property is only one block off Weke Road, which offers another route. For adventurers, the north beaches ending at Ke’e Beach and the Kapalau Trail are just a ten-minute drive away. The views from the yard are absolutely stunning. Despite the highway proximity, we experienced zero road noise. We did encounter some unusual weather with heavy rain and thunder that temporarily flooded and closed the road into Hanalei, which can sometimes affect business hours if staff can’t get to work, but it didn’t impact our plans. As with anywhere on the island, expect the local wildlife—roosters, chickens, lizards, and more are everywhere. If the sound of crowing or the presence of tropical animals bothers you, Kauai might not be your ideal destination, but we loved the authentic vibe. The house itself was charming, fully equipped, and quirky. While there was no dishwasher or air conditioning, we were prepared for that. Plenty of fans kept the air moving nicely. The outdoor shower, with its mountain backdrop, was a highlight—perfect for rinsing off after the beach and keeping the interior bathrooms fresh. We are already planning our next visit and will definitely book with Aunty Lydia’s again!

It was convenient to walk to the local shopping area for breakfast. We chose Hanalei as our base because we always find ourselves drawn to that area in Kauai. The opportunities for paddle boarding, kayaking, surfing, and beach walks were perfect. We also made it a point to visit our favorite spot, Baracuda, for some tapas. Highly recommended for a relaxing vacation rental.

It isn’t a fancy resort, but it offers a clean, spacious, and well-appointed experience that feels just right. The retro 1950s decor with paneled walls actually adds a charming, nostalgic touch rather than detracting from the stay. In a lush, tropical setting like Kilauea, minor wear on fixtures is hardly noticeable. We slept soundly in the comfortable king bed in the back room, found the air conditioning unnecessary, and the white noise from the road and local roosters didn’t bother us thanks to our iPad app. The living area is cozy and themed, with large windows offering stunning views of the vegetation and distant waterfalls. There are plenty of outlets for all your devices. The location is excellent—just a short walk to the beach and close to town via Weke Road. We enjoyed nearby excursions to Limahuli Garden, Ke'e Beach, and Anini. The management team was friendly and easy to work with, making this a relaxing base for our Hawaiian vacation. We would happily stay here again.

My husband and I spent a lovely two weeks at this property in Kilauea. The location was perfect—spacious and just a short distance from both the beach and town, making it incredibly convenient. We really appreciated the outdoor shower for rinsing off after the ocean and the well-equipped kitchen for preparing meals. The living room offered beautiful views of the distant mountains, complemented by a charming tropical front yard and a mix of old Hawaiian and mid-century decor in the interior. Being set back from the highway meant the noise level was minimal, and the house was spotless. The management team was also quite responsive and helpful. I’m rating this four stars primarily because of the heat; the interior stayed quite warm and was difficult to cool down, likely exacerbated by the 90-degree weather. The house felt a bit dark inside, so if you prefer brighter spaces, that might be something to keep in mind. Otherwise, it was a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Staying in Hanalei with Beach & Bluff Realty was a wonderful experience. The property is spacious and well-equipped, featuring three bedrooms and a lovely outdoor shower. Its location is unbeatable—just a short walk to the beach, the pier, and all the town’s amenities. However, the lack of natural airflow was a significant issue. Temperatures inside became quite high, especially between 2 and 5 pm, forcing us to leave the house during the day. With only one AC unit covering a single room and the instruction not to try cooling the entire house with it, the comfort level dropped. While many local homes lack full AC, they usually have good ventilation; this house did not. This could be tough for elderly guests or children, but otherwise, it’s a great spot.

They also provided beach chairs, toys, and a cooler, along with fans in every room and AC in one bedroom—basically all the amenities for a great vacation. The location was perfect, with the beach just a five-minute walk away. Although the property is on the highway, traffic quiets down significantly in the evenings, so it wasn’t bothersome at all. It’s also only a ten-minute walk to town, which was great for our nightly strolls to dinner. Plus, there’s an excellent grocery store just a five-minute drive away. We had a wonderful experience and have no complaints.

The location is fantastic, featuring a large grassy lawn that leads straight to Hanalei Bay, with shops just under half a mile away and easy access to Princeville for groceries. The bed was comfortable, and the unit always had great light and breezes. However, the only drawback was the nearby construction. With a house being built across the street and remodeling next door, the noise was quite disruptive for our sleeping child. Fortunately, Cynthia and Suzanne were very understanding and accommodating about the situation. Aside from the noise, it was a great find—just be sure to check on construction schedules before booking!

A tranquil retreat ideal for couples seeking relaxation. The property retains a charming, well-maintained 1960s aesthetic. We were impressed by the responsiveness of Chris from the support team, who promptly resolved a minor issue with the safe’s batteries. Although our stay from February 5-16 included some wet and windy weather, we still had a wonderful time. Being right on the waterfront allowed us to watch a surf competition, go paddleboarding, join daily yoga sessions, and enjoy a slack-key concert locally. Having visited Hanalei on several occasions, we consider this spot a hidden gem.

Located just off the main highway, it’s incredibly close to town and Pine Trees Beach. While the highway traffic is audible during the day, the surrounding hedges provide a lovely sense of privacy. The home itself is full of character, from the photos of Auntie Lydia and her family displayed throughout to the stunning views of the mountains and waterfalls from the front room. The highlight for us was undoubtedly the outdoor shower. It felt magical to stand under the warm water in the rain while taking in the lush scenery. The covered carport was perfect for barbecues; despite the rainy weather, we hosted friends and enjoyed all our meals outdoors. Amenities were thoughtfully provided, including a cooler, boogie boards, and beach chairs. Every room was kept cool with fans, and there’s even air conditioning in one bedroom if needed. The on-site washer and dryer were a huge plus. One small but convenient detail was the separate outdoor toilet room, which made life much easier with kids and our grandmother in tow. Staying in a full home rather than a condo added to the experience, and we were so grateful to share this slice of Hanalei life. We will definitely be back!
