I m first time student at BCIT in Burnaby and let me tell you, whatever your course cost Is, add additional 1000-3000$ for parking and tickets you going to get. If you are new student, using transit would be least stressful, if you have to drive, come 30 min earlier. So you can get familiar with parking, as it seams like from parking spaces available, they have more staff then students!
There is car2go and Evo parking, use it!
Parking is 5.60$ per day, do not forget to pay parking, tickets are 65-85$, and you will get one 100%. Read the signs posted on parking carefully, if parking is convenient and you are happy, check parking sign again, might be a trick!
I have no complaints about school, but parking is very stressful, because of it I missed my #1 assignment.
Google autonomous cars can't come soon enough, I hate IMPARK and all other parking companies, that give no service of any kind to humanity, but they collect our money, more then any other companies, that actually do have true services!
I had to vent, I hope this helps at least 1 student that has to drive to Burnaby campus.

The schooling is important and hard and will get you ready for the real working world

Be prepared to work hard, the rewards are worth the work. You will enter the industry with enough knowledge to start working

Very functional gym. Has everything you d need and more equipment wise. Highlight being that it has 6 squat racks. Could have more bench press but free weight flat but 2 is not bad. Very clean, very well run, laundry and towel service, amazing staff. All around great gym and good price if you re a student at BCIT.

I am a BC born and raised and I love all my parks and playland and pne we need this for us and for the world visitors. They have places like this in there cities. Take it away just see what we will gave us?!

Easy to get to, impressive campus. Took MDIA 1049 Indesign course with prof Willem Teuling, and I would highly recommend it. Very happy with my education experience.

Electrical trades program is hit and miss. Chief instructor Ted Simmons doesn't seem to care whether or not instructors do an adequate job. High failure rates in some classes due to terrible instructors. Some instructors are very good. Just hope that you luck out. TAKE ENTRY LEVEL ELECTRICAL WITH EJTC/IBEW 213!!! It's far better than BCIT's and you get paid work experience.

Nice school, large campus. Decent lunch options. Parking costs too high.

Decent facilities, good prices for students. But censorship by new management puts a damper on it.

So many machines. Lots of equipment. Only really busy time is between 2 pm to 4 pm on school days (M-F). Very helpful staff

Staff here are super awesome. They are so friendly and try their best to make things work for you. I wanted to play squash once, but the squash court was already booked. The female staff with a really toned and fit body and the male staff with a scruff squeezed us in somehow! There is another staff in the gym that helps you out if you're a beginner and are struggling with the weights/equipment!

BCIT offers many programs that related to more technical than academic studies. Many industrial are interested to hire BCIT graduated. The quality of faculty has improved during the past 20 years. Parking is not free, and located around the campus with 10 to 15 minutes walking distance. If you just want to learn skills for future career, then it's right for you, however if you want to study master or Ph.D, then it is definitely not a place to go.

The technical institute has five campuses located in the Metro Vancouver region, with its main campus in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. There is also the Aerospace Technology Campus in Richmond, the Marine Campus in the City of North Vancouver, Downtown campus in Vancouver, and Annacis Island Campus in Delta.[1] It is provincially chartered through legislation in the College and Institute Act. The school operates as a vocational and technical school, offering apprenticeships for the skilled trades and diplomas and degrees in vocational education for skilled technicians and workers in professions such as engineering, accountancy, business administration, broadcast/media communications, digital arts, nursing, medicine, architecture, and law.

Quick reminder: This is a gym for the public but it is also for the university students which means tht there will be people working out even though it's a week day or a week end.

The teachers here at Bcit are very professional,
I want to make 2 cups of coffee before class.
This way I can focus more,
Keep up with my studies.

Customer service very responsive, they are very honest regarding delays for credential evaluation for imagination, it takes 12 weeks but they really deliver in 12 weeks not one day more.

Nice gym and free to use for BCIT student. Newly renovated. Avoid the busy hours from 3-6.

Before I say anything, let me be clear: the instructors are world class excellent.

The problem seems to be BCIT's misuse of resources.

There's a lack of instructors. When I was in the Joinery (cabinetmakers) class, the year 1 instructor would be required and/or be obligated to spend between 1/3rd to 2/3rd of their time to go away to help the students in years 2, 3 and 4 with projects (we all had classes at the same time within the same building) who had no assistant instructor to help them learn. Again, please don't misunderstand me: the instructors were world class. It was NOT the instructors fault that there was a lack of instructors. It was apparently the fault of a stupid admininstration that asked the year 1 instructor to spread their time between 4 different classes at once instead of just biting the bullet and hiring 1 or 2 extra assistant instructors.

They also don't give you many opportunities to experiment and learn. They only gave you like 5 or 6 projects the entire year and if you fail one of the projects then you'll likely fail the course. You don't get any practice projects or even to practice cutting on a spare piece of wood. Also they LITERALLY said if you "use too much wood" on a project they deduct marks off your project (I don't think that was the instructors decision.) Even if someone had skills from like a woodshop class in high school and/or helping a family member do some repairs on their house, the skills are not directly transferrable. Like the majority of commercial cabinetmaking involves either using machines larger than refridgerators or using esoteric artisanal hand tools. I think most people just have limited knowledge of using a portable power saw and a portable power sander. Students deserve to be able to have more experience practicing with the various chisels and hand saws.

BCIT literally wastes money and resources on a giant sports building, including a full time boxing instructor. They don't have a giant sports building at Langara or Douglas. Like for God's sake, you have classes that could use an assistant instructor. Why are you wasting money on a sports building? How many trade school students are going to have the time and money to make use of a gym. How many students are going to actually want to and/or be able to make use of a boxing instructor?

Also theres no storage spaces inside the woodshop. There aren't even any cubble holes or whatever to store stuff inside the classroom. They said you're not allowed to bring a backpack inside the workshop. Yet they also require you to bring papers to each class. Also you only have 2 15 minute coffee breaks and 1 half hour lunch break. Also the school's obsessed with timeliness like a prison is: if you're late to class even 1 minute in the morning or after breaks you risk being expelled. I didn't pay $5000 for this kind of dehumanising treatment in a prison like environment.

I quit the class (it was too fast paced for meme) and took an entry level job at a cabinet maker's wood shop. My boss -who runs his own private business cabinetmaker's woodshop business 9 to 5 hours, 5 days a week- was asked to come in on a saturday to help year 3 students at BCIT complete their projects on a weekend. My question is, why the hell doesn't BCIt just hire an extra instructor as an assistant instructor instead of just "biting the bullet" and hiring a"traveling" assistant instructor for the classes?

Clean and pleasant gym with decent facilities. There are always people cleaning up the area to ensure it s always tidy.

Treadmill sometimes doesn t work as expected, as when I significantly increase the speed, it feels the same as if I do no change to it.

BCIT is amazing because they offer many programs and many jobs are looking for BCIT students.

Great place to acquire knowledge. Have lots of program. Thou seat get full very quick and huge waitlist but its a great college love it

Excellent facilities, with state of the art filtered clean and free water.
