I had a very bad experience with AIESEC Nijmegen. They try to sell you dreams, but in reality what you get is very different. I wanted to go on an internship with them and paid 325 euros + 25 euros administrative costs. The internship was promised to be in a big city in Brazil. In reality, both the internship and the host family were located in a small boring village more than 1.5 hours away from the big city. When I discovered this, I canceled the internship and tried to get my money back, as the internship experience they promised was somewhere else (and very different) from what I would get in reality. If I had wanted to do an internship in a small town I might just as well have stayed in the Netherlands. I filed my complaint and still have not gotten my money back. They claimed that I was only allowed to cancel the internship in case of death, war, natural disasters etc. So they did not take into account the possibility that their product could be bad. AIESEC Nijmegen never invited an independent third party to look at my complaint. From my experience I think it is a very unprofessional club of students who just want to make sales and hit their targets, without looking critically at the product/experience they are responsible for. It should be about the customer experience!

AIESEC Nijmegen: Empowering Young Leaders to Make a Difference
AIESEC is a global platform that empowers young people to explore and develop their leadership potential. With over 70 years of experience, AIESEC has become the world's largest youth-led organization, present in more than 120 countries and territories. AIESEC Nijmegen is one of the local chapters of this international organization, located in the Netherlands.
At AIESEC Nijmegen, we believe that young people have the power to make a positive impact on society. That's why we offer various programs and opportunities for students and recent graduates to gain practical skills, expand their network, and contribute to meaningful projects around the world.
One of our flagship programs is Global Volunteer, which allows participants to work on social or environmental projects abroad for six weeks up to six months. Through this program, volunteers can immerse themselves in different cultures while making a tangible difference in communities that need it most. Some examples of past projects include teaching English in Vietnam, building sustainable homes in Brazil, or supporting refugees in Greece.
Another popular program at AIESEC Nijmegen is Global Talent, which provides internships abroad for students who want to gain professional experience while exploring new cultures. This program offers opportunities across various fields such as marketing, engineering or IT and can last from three months up to one year.
Apart from these two main programs mentioned above there are also other opportunities available like YouthSpeak Forum where young leaders come together with experts from different fields like business leaders or politicians etc., discuss current issues affecting society today such as climate change or gender equality etc., brainstorm solutions together then present them at UN General Assembly meetings held annually worldwide.
At AIESEC Nijmegen we believe that leadership development goes beyond just acquiring technical skills; it also involves personal growth through self-awareness and reflection. That's why we provide training sessions on topics such as communication skills development , team management , project planning & execution , cultural intelligence etc., so our members can become well-rounded leaders who are equipped with both hard & soft skills needed for success not only professionally but also personally .
Our local chapter consists of passionate individuals who share a common goal: creating positive change through leadership development . We organize regular events such as workshops , social gatherings , networking events etc., where members can connect with each other while learning new things about themselves & others around them .
