The ramblers' association
The Gradual Decline of the Ramblers.
I have been a member of The Ramblers for over 20 years and have enjoyed walking with my local group. Unfortunately the association has gradually become more autocratic over the years. Many members who have regularly walked with a group are of mature years with many years of walking and leading experience. These members, despite having probably more than 20 years experience, are now being told what to do by basically a bunch of young kids at central office. Most of these "kids" are probably more than half the age of the average ramblers member including the CEO who is only just over 30 years himself. These antics are destroying what faith and respect the members have for the assocation.
Surely it's the experienced members who should be calling the shots and not the other way round. I have now sadly cancelled my Ramblers membership and no doubt many will follow.
