I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with your service and billing practices. I visited your clinic last year to request cataract surgery for both eyes. From the very beginning, I made sure to confirm with the front desk that my insurance was accepted. Your staff checked the system and confirmed that it was approved.
During my appointment with the nurse—where we scheduled the surgery dates and follow‑up visits—I again asked whether your office accepted my insurance and requested information about the copayment. The nurse provided all the necessary details, and I proceeded based on that information. I then waited two months for the first surgery appointment.
However, the day before the scheduled surgery, I received a call informing me that your office does not accept my insurance after all. At that point, I had no choice but to cancel the procedure. I am 73 years old, retired, and unable to pay the full cost out of pocket.
Despite this error on your end, I later began receiving bills for the initial exam that was done in preparation for the surgery. I disputed the charge, contacted your office, and filed a claim. Nevertheless, the bill was eventually sent to collections. This situation arose entirely due to your office’s mistake, and I also lost two months of waiting time and had to cancel travel plans because of your scheduling.
I am respectfully requesting that you revoke this bill, as I should not be held responsible for charges resulting from your office’s error.
