The input received was counterproductive and did not facilitate progress or clarity

Navigating probate in Guernsey has been challenging and, at times, deeply frustrating. While some organisations were helpful and streamlined the process, my experience with Carey Olsen was the opposite - fragmented, unclear, and at times unprofessional, especially for someone unfamiliar with local procedures and managing affairs from abroad.

Despite being named executor, I faced significant obstacles accessing the will and received conflicting advice. After numerous confusing exchanges, I had to engage an advocate simply to obtain the will. Communication was often overly personal, negative, and unhelpful, offering no meaningful assistance.

There were also troubling assumptions made around gender roles and undue pressure to appoint a Guernsey-based advocate prematurely, despite my efforts to explore other options. Rather than providing clarity or support, Carey Olsen added to the complexity of the process.

The lack of consistency and professionalism made an already difficult situation more burdensome. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Carey Olsen for probate matters. A more coordinated approach and improved communication would greatly benefit others navigating this process.
