Credit Check before test drive? Wire before financing discussion for monthly payments?

It was a lifelong goal of mine to purchase an Audi from Audi of Manhattan, but this experience has completely changed my view of the brand and dealership.

From the beginning, I was never shown pricing, vehicle options, or financing details — only pressured to wire money before any meaningful discussion could occur. Despite completing a credit check and receiving online pre-approval, I was repeatedly misled and ultimately “fired” as a client when I asked for basic monthly payment calculations.

Sales representative Romani Oniani initiated a credit check before any financing discussion, presented as a condition for a test drive. Manager Steven Rubinchik was aware of the situation and participated in follow-ups but never arranged a proper financing conversation. John Palenca abandoned me, my business partner, and my fiancée upstairs for hours during our scheduled signing appointment — our fourth attempt to finalize the purchase — while assisting other clients and claiming to speak with a finance manager.

One representative, who initially identified himself as “Roger,” told me to “go shop in Huntington” after seeing the ZIP code on my driver’s license. On a recorded call, he later slipped and revealed his real name. I have lived and worked in Hudson Yards for three years, and that ZIP code was from my family home. This treatment felt discriminatory based on perceived socioeconomic status, despite my $300,000 base salary and $250,000 annual bonus.

The dealership repeatedly hid critical information — including the names of representatives, financing details, service information, and all standard disclosures. I was asked to return four separate times for paperwork that was never produced. Even during the signing appointment, no documentation or breakdown of costs was provided. The facility is run-down, understaffed, and appears to lack qualified personnel to handle financing.

I have video and audio evidence of these interactions and proof that my online application was instantly approved. If you have experienced similar issues — such as being asked for a wire before financing terms or a credit check before a test drive — please contact me at 631-742-2909
