Disappointing Results
We hired Kari Tolppanen of KT Landscape Design to create plans for both our front and back gardens. While he was pleasant to work with, the overall experience fell far short of expectations.
His ideas lacked originality or creativity. For example, we specifically asked for ideas to move away from a grass-heavy backyard and envisioned a mix of garden beds and shrubs. Instead, the main proposal was simply to replace the lawn with periwinkle--an uninspired suggestion, and one that raised concerns since periwinkle is toxic to pets, including our dog.
The preliminary plans we received did not reflect our goals and we found ourselves driving all the ideas. In the end, we were left disappointed and feeling that we got nothing for the money we paid, other than our ideas entered into a software program. Some acknowledgement of this imbalance between fees paid and a lack of usable results would have been a professional end to the matter, but Kari did not compromise.
