Horrible
I attended this summer camp for five days, and it was absolutely terrible how they treated the horses. Lyn constantly screamed at the horses and even forced a little girl to hit one really hard, leaving the horse visibly uncomfortable. It wasn’t worth the $350 at all. We only had a one-hour ride split among three groups during the six-hour camp, and the rest of the time, we just sat around doing nothing, even though they claimed we’d be caring for the horses. Instead, it felt like we were being used as free labor, doing all the hard tasks the counselors should have been handling. The group consisted of kids aged 8-12, and I saw the little girl hit the horse so hard it hurt him—I could see the pain in his eyes. It overwhelmed me so much that I ended up crying. I wanted to trot alongside but couldn’t because Lyn insisted I keep both hands on the saddle instead of the reins, which meant I couldn’t steer the horse. When I tried, I got yelled at. There was also a girl who showed off her skills, and Lyn allowed it and even bragged about her. While trotting, Lyn told me to get closer to the rail, but when I did, another horse moved closer, and my horse got spooked. They don’t allow Western saddles, but I saw one in the tack room despite their claims of not having any. I almost fell off and felt like I was having a mini heart attack. Lyn would smack the horses on the head, butt, or wherever she could. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this camp!
