Don't use this contractor
Encouraged by a neighbor, we contracted with Mr. Ruane to repair a shared chimney. He charged about half of what it would have cost according to others to rebuild it. We wish we had contracted with a more reputable contractor to rebuild. All he did was smear mortar over the areas where there were missing bricks. This is evident from the street. Visually, it's a mess. We don't know whether the leakage we were getting into the roofline has been stopped or not, but the repair looks terrible.
