Dew 4 U Sprinkler Systems – Dishonest, overpriced, and not trustworthy
I’ve had bad experiences with Dew 4 U not once, but twice. This Season (June 2025), I called them about a “Short” error on my sprinkler timer. Amador (the owner) quoted me $885 for a new WiFi-enabled timer (parts + labor), saying the $143 troubleshooting fee would be credited toward the job if I chose to get a timer installed. But after the technician finished, I was handed a $1,570 bill — nearly double the quoted price with NO prior warning or clarification from anyone!!
After troubleshooting it to be a timer issue, the technician offered me diff timers of which I chose their best option - a new Wifi timer. He started verifying signal strength & determined a spot for it away from original timer. He never told me that relocating the timer would cost an extra labor of $475. Neither did he tell me that for the quoted price, I can only have the standard timer at that spot. Instead, he installed the new Wifi timer to a diff spot, after verifying acceptable WiFi signal strength at that new spot, without ever clarifying that the quoted price didn’t cover relocation. Even worse, in the final bill, I was still charged the $143 troubleshooting fee — directly contradicting what was promised by Amador!!
When I was shocked to hear the total price, & noticed the exact model of the timer installed (a Hunter HPC-400), I looked it up online in front of the tech — retail price is around $200. Even if I double it for their parts mark up, and added the labor cost of $475, it would still be well within $885 originally quoted to me. Since the technician had no say on this, I tried to speak to Amador on phone (he was remote). Instead of owning up to the lack of communication from him/his tech on clarifying the additional cost of putting their Wifi timer, he blamed it on me (saying I should have asked!!). He became rude, dismissive on me pointing out the HUGE discrepancy, saying he didn’t have time to argue or delay his crew.
The only “discount” he offered was $150 off IF & ONLY IF I paid by cash or personal check - which I did. But that didn’t stop him from continuing to sneak in the $143 troubleshooting fee into the total. I ended up writing a check for $1,420 — still far above the quoted amount.
This is not a one-off. A while back, I had a similar experience where he overcharged me for adding a new sprinkler zone, well beyond what he initially quoted. So this seems to be a pattern of misleading quotes, hidden fees, inflated part costs, and rude customer service.
I have attached a photo if invoice as proof.
BOTTOM LINE: Dew 4 U is NOT honest, NOT transparent, and NOT trustworthy. Beware of vague estimates and surprise charges. read less
