I hired Mike based on a trusted referral, but my experience was deeply disappointing from start to finish.
After agreeing on the job, Mike's crew delivered the materials without notice and left them blocking my shared driveway—despite my clear instructions (and his agreement) that materials were to be placed in the backyard. I work from home and rely on that space for daily access. Instead of taking responsibility for the mistake, Mike became evasive, dismissive, and ultimately hostile.
He ignored my calls, sent fragmented responses to texts, and when I expressed concern about being blocked in, he used wildly inappropriate language—accusing me of treating him like a “personal slave,” which was not only offensive but entirely untrue and unprovoked.
Despite assuring me that the materials would be picked up by Monday morning, they sat in my driveway from Friday through Wednesday, obstructing access and creating unnecessary stress. The delay was not due to scheduling—it was pure spite, which he openly admitted he’s capable of, referencing a past client he deliberately retaliated against.
Ultimately, I had to cancel the project entirely. The lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic decency speaks volumes. I did receive my deposit back, but the time, emotional toll, and disruption to my life are not so easily recovered.
Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. A contractor should respect your home—not use it as a place to dump materials out of spite.
