Qello operates the worst subscription model ever!
Qello operates the worst subscription model I have ever come across. I had long wanted to subscribe to its content but considered the price too high for niche content I would watch only occasionally, so I was pleased to find a Black Friday offer I could justify. I have a Samsung 65 inch TV which has the app preinstalled but which requires a subscription. I use this TV for all visual media consumption but NOT for financial transactions, so I took up the offer using my 11 inch Windows laptop, intending to enter the subscription details on my TV - as I have done for all other TV subscription apps. However Qello does not let me watch on a device other than the one from which the subscription was bought. What is more it even disallows casting from my laptop to my TV. Contact with support suggested this related to a "technical" limitation which they were trying to resolve, but the ability to do this with every other app reveals the lie behind this, as does the fact that when subsequent offers have been advertised those are available on a web browser only, not via the app on my TV, which just offers the full price. It is clearly a deliberate financial decision, and one which I consider deceptive and unethical. Having taken up a widely advertised offer at a price I could justify I have not been able to watch a single concert, since I would never have considered using my small laptop screen for such a purpose.
