Disorganized, Unresponsive, and Intimidating - A Disappointing Experience
We had high hopes for our collaboration with Mid-America Productions, but the reality was chaotic from start to finish. As part of the performance package, our group of mostly seniors was booked on a so-called “dinner cruise” that ran from 12:30 AM to 3:30 AM—completely inappropriate and inconsiderate for our demographic. When we raised valid concerns and disputed only this charge, we were threatened with being banned from the performance unless we paid in full.
To make matters worse, we didn’t receive a rehearsal itinerary until shortly before the event, leaving little room for planning. Then came a sudden venue change for the rehearsals to a different part of town - again, with virtually no warning or support. Communication throughout was almost non-existent until we pushed back on charges, at which point we encountered reactive and unprofessional behavior.
This experience was more stressful than celebratory. I would urge others to proceed with caution. The lack of organization, empathy, and transparency was alarming.
Thankfully, the musicians supporting the chorales of 200+ voices delivered outstanding performances - one of the few bright spots.
