Size up. I don't know how "custom " they are. My 9 wears a 8-10 girls and ordered up the ladies xs. The cost goes up $6pr for this small child to order ladies. But still I need time. I should have order at least the small ladies or even med. The culottes are so straight she called them she pants. The tag said xs. I DID text and email back and forth to try to get good measurements. But was given suggestions. I sew. It was unclear to me if the size chart was exact go out just a reference. IT IS EXACT. I needed to know what the finished hip measurement was to get the fullness in the hip /bottom. Some pairs give her a wedgie. Haven't even washed them. I hope they don't shrink. I'm sad I order 5 pair. Our budget is tight and so is our time. That's why I ordered. The fabric is nice.
