Dacula Classical Academy Dacula Classical Academy Reviews 11

Please read this review concerning a recent hire at Dacula Classical

Please read this review before considering Dacula Classical, as it concerns a teacher named Stephanie Gibbons who was recently hired by Dacula Classical.

We me Stephanie at Oak Hill Classical where she was teaching third grade at the time., She had come from the county schools and had never taught the Classical method before. After three months it became clear she was not teaching the Classical method, so I spoke to the Headmaster, Matt Baker, to express concern. He told me he would speak to Stephanie.

From that moment forward, our son was deliberately neglected in her class. His education tumbled into a decline; he went from being a good student (A's and B's) in his former school to getting D's and F's, with no explanation. At no point did Stephanie notify us to tell us our son was failing, we just received a report card with failing grades and the comment section on it for the teacher to give feedback left blank. When we followed up for a meeting to discuss, she adamantly blamed our child for not being a capable student. I asked her what could we could do at home to help, she said she'll let us know. Anytime after that when we tried to reach out she would either not respond or send a deliberately short/vague email that he is doing well. His final report card was abysmal.

The last straw came at the end-of-school-year meeting. Stephanie told us that our son had some kind of panic attack one day, and it was egregious enough to alarm almost everybody at the school. Our son had never had "panic attacks" before, so when I asked what happened Stephanie said she "was out that day." When I asked when this happened, her response was, and I quote, "I don't know... a few weeks ago... something like that."

Apparently my son had some kind of panic attack and Stephanie did not contact us.

Stephanie Gibbons now works at Dacula Classical. It is clear that not only is she incompetent, but if you express any concern about what you see happening she will get offended, resent and ignore you, and simply sacrifice your child's education in the process. Avoid her at all costs, including taking your child out of her class.

I cannot recommend parents avoid this school strongly enough.

I cannot recommend parents avoid this school strongly enough. Please read this review before ever considering Oak Hill Classical.

Having moved from out of state, we paid over $10,000 to get our child through the door in the interest of having him to continue his Classical education. His teacher, Stephanie Gibbons, had come from the county schools and had never taught the Classical method before. After three months it became clear she was not teaching the Classical method, so I spoke to the Headmaster, Matt Baker, to express concern. He told me he would speak to Stephanie.

From that moment forward, our son was completely neglected in her class. His education tumbled into a decline; he went from being a good student (A's and B's) in his former school to getting D's and F's. At no point during the school year did Stephanie notify us to tell us our son was failing, we just received a report card with failing grades and the comment section on it for the teacher to give feedback left blank. When we followed up for a meeting to discuss, she adamantly blamed our child for not being a capable student. I told her to please reach out of us if he is having trouble in class and asked what we could do at home to help her to help bring my son's grades up. She said she'll let us know. Anytime after that when we tried to reach out she would either not respond or send a deliberately short/vague email that he is doing well. His final report card was abysmal.

The last straw came at the end-of-school-year meeting. We were told that our son had some kind of panic attack one day, and it was egregious enough to alarm almost everybody at the school. Our son had never had "panic attacks" before, so when I asked what happened Stephanie said she "was out that day." When I asked Matt, he said that he looked like he was in a "trance." When I asked Matt when this happened, his response was, and I quote, "I don't know... a few weeks ago... something like that."

Apparently my son had some kind of panic attack and not a single adult at this school contacted us about it.

Both Stephanie Gibbons and Matt Baker are still employed that this school, and again, Matt is the Headmaster. It is clear that not only are they grossly incompetent, but if you express concern about what you see happening they get offended, ignore you, and simply sacrifice your child's education in the process. Our time there proved to be a nothing but a loss of a year of education for our son.
