Exceptionally good service from Technical Advisor Rob
In May 2024 I purchased a RAV4 Edge Hybrid from a local dealership. The main battery went flat twice in the first month and only on my third booking would they accept the battery was faulty and replaced it.
From the first day the trip summary display showed the EV Mode use on every trip was zero and most times the main display indicated “EV Mode Unavailable – Hybrid battery low”.
After again booking the car into the local dealer they claimed nothing was wrong with the vehicle and refused to discuss the issue with me. I made 5 calls to Toyota Australia who told me the dealer had called me, which was untrue. They also told me nothing was wrong with the vehicle. “Christian” from Toyota Australia claimed the vehicle needed to clock up a lot of km before the computer could report the status. I had already driven 8,000 km and it was still reporting 0% EV use.
In desperation I took the vehicle to Kalamunda Toyota last week, after several recommendations for this dealer.
I saw “Rob” their Technical Advisor. Rob was fantastic. He is very intelligent, has excellent understanding of the way Hybrid vehicles work, he was patient, a good listener and spent some time with me explaining how Hybrid vehicles work, how the batteries are charged and how the trip results are computed. Rob took my car for a drive for at least half an hour and reset the displays whilst showing me how to change some of the complex settings.
In short Rob fixed all the problems I had reported by altering all the settings.
Although I live in Wembley, which is quite a distance from Kalamunda Toyota they now have me as a permanent customer and I have booked my 1 year service with them in a few weeks.
