Someone gave me an old sewing machine, so I could ...
Someone gave me an old sewing machine, so I could give it to a refugee friend who wants to sew. We couldn't get it to work--it wasn't apparent if it used a floor pedal and it was missing or what. We were in a dark, narrow space where it was difficult to see and my friend wasn't familiar with this type of machine. There was a plug but we couldn't figure out where to plug it into the machine.
I called McKinney's and the owner was incredibly gracious with me! He had me send multiple pictures to him and patiently talked me through how to find where to plug in the machine underneath and where the knee pedal was. He took at least 30 minutes, if not more, out of his schedule to help a clueless non-sewer such as myself. I left a very happy refugee ready to sew clothes for her baby arriving soon.
This was an incredible gift of kindness from the owner. I had not purchased anything from him yet he was willing to help anyway. I'll be sure to tell all of my sewing friends how he bent over backward in this way and that they should give him lots of business. If only more people were this helpful and kind!
