Incompetent scheduling
My issue with Virginmedia has been going on for 5 weeks do far. I have now been without broadband access for a week!
I signed up with this shower at the end of October, with a full month to go on my previous service. We agreed installation on the 28th Nov. I received a call from their contractor, I think, on the night before and we agreed a time of 3pm or so. At 4.20 on the 28th, he called me again. He said their job in Galway was much longer than anticipated and he would not get to me. I got a call on 29th from head office saying they would put me on the next available date. She said they are only in Galway region once per week, on Thursdays. On the 2nd of Dec I was told that I would get it installed today the 6th, which is a Friday and at that time I was surprised as it was not Thursday.
I phoned their sales office at 9.30 this morning. The lady couldn't tell me what time the installation would be and transferred me to their technical department. I spoke to a guy their who eventually, after putting me on hold, said that my installation was not on their schedule and had in fact not been scheduled at all. He promised that the installation organisers would call me. Now it is 7 hours later and I am still waiting! It is now 4pm and I am shocked with the lack of response.
At this point, I don't have ANY internet, except for my mobile phone, which thankfully is NOT Virgin media. Worse, I have no clue as to when and if I will get it.
My comments on all this:
1. Their installation planners must be incompetent as they should have been aware that the previous job to mine was more complex.
2. It does not look good for any future follow or support that a customer may need. They come to Galway once a week, supposedly. I have no confidence in their support.
3. Today, I'm getting the run around. At this moment, I'm trying to cancel my account. I'm on hold and have been for nearly 20 min so far.
4. I really thought that Virgin media would be better and more professional, I've previously been with Pure, Vodaphone, and Eir. So they're next to be called, as soon as I cancel my account.
PS. Virginmedia have a reputation for not actually closing their accounts or stopping their direct debits, so I'm very concerned.
