Don't waste your time selling unless you're a huge breeding farm
I just returned from the Fall Speed sale in Springfield where I sold a broodmare as I'm downsizing and getting ready to retire. I've never been so disappointed in a sales company in my life. The auctioneer was fine but the pedigree reader put forth the minimum effort when describing my mare and left out critical details that were fully provided for every other broodmare in the sale.
It seems that if you are not one of the top breeders or farms, you'll get little if any effort out of the company. I paid the same entry fee and commission as everyone else and all I would expect the same effort, which was apparently too much to ask.
