Poor Urgent Care Service
My son James had an urgent care appointment on 4 May 26 with Dr. Chad Smith. He was experiencing a severe gout episode, and wasn't able to walk on his foot. The check in was smooth, he was seen promptly, and all was going great until I went to pick up his prescription. I was told at the pharmacy that they didn't have an order. So I called NM Ortho Winrock location and inquired about his prescription. I was told that they have up to 48hrs to send the prescription to the pharmacy. I explained that my son was in pain and was leaving the next day and needed his medication. I asked if there were no exceptions and was told no. I also noticed that it was close to closing time and I was not going to get the help I needed. My son left the next day without his medication and had to go to the ER. This was an urgent care visit and I'd received prescriptions from other urgent care clinics the same day. A policy that puts a patient's health in jeopardy is unacceptable. I feel every effort should be made to accommodate the patient's urgency. A patient's health should be priority.
