⭐️ 1 Star – Major Construction Failure, Zero Accountability
Square One renovated my home around 2021.
There were numerous deficiencies which I discovered during the process which were corrected.
I noticed water in the crawl space in 2024 but assumed it was due to perimeter drains which I had cleaned.
In late 2025, I discovered the critical failure: a shower they installed was never connected to the waste line. For years, wastewater drained directly into the crawlspace behind furnace ducting, making the issue very difficult to detect.
The result was extensive mold contamination and the loss of thousands of dollars in stored belongings, including clothing and family keepsakes. A licensed plumber who investigated the issue warned that the air was hazardous and found construction debris dumped into the open drain.
When Square One attended, they dismissed the odor, suggested air freshener, and even recommended cutting into hardwood floors to vent the crawlspace into the living space—advice I refused. After I informed the owner of the actual cause, my call was not returned.
Square One eventually paid to have the shower properly connected but refused to compensate for the damage caused. They also warned that posting a review or filing a BBB complaint could lead to legal action.
This was a preventable, serious error that caused major financial loss and stress. Based on my experience, I strongly do not recommend Square One. Anyone considering them should independently verify all work—especially plumbing hidden behind walls and floors.
