Unprofessionalism & untrue insurance benefits explained to future patients June 24, 2026
While reading the reviews on this site I noticed No Reviews for the last 2 years, Either no one has taken the time to write a review or most within the last 2 years have been negative. My son had an appointment June 24, 2026 as a new patient, he has Humana Dental Insurance, the staff knew what insurance he had when they made the appointment for him, he was told by the front administrative staff that he would have to pay $48 out of pocket before a dentist would see him to cove the cost of a Panoramic Xray, also front desk staff told him his insurance would not cove this, only the bite wing xrays, he told them he didn't have the money to cover the $48 cost, he was told it is "Standard of Care" to have a panoramic done and the dentist could not see him unless he paid to have this done, in the next breath he was told that he may need a "Deep Cleaning" instead of the dental cleaning Humana insurance pays for, this all before he was seen by a dentist, a confrontation occurred and my son walked out, I came to pick him up, he told me he never saw a dentist and the front staff were strong arming him to pay $48 dollars and agree to a deep cleaning before they would let him see a dentist, I recently had a new bridge put in by Dr. Prescott who was very nice and professional, but after the trouble my son had at the front desk, I will Never go back even though I liked the dentist who did my dental care. One of the staff called my son "a liar" when I went into the office to see what the trouble was, I told my son I thought it was a good dental office, after calling me a bully and him a liar, she topped off her insults with the phrase, "They Talk to Us Like We are Dogs" I could not believe it, I asked to speak to the office manager who was not present at the time and you would have thought I asked for her first born, two front office staff stormed off from their work stations with all the hurt and drama they could use. My son's feelings were hurt, he told me he had never been treated so poorly in a dental or medical office. The next day my son called his insurance company to find out what benefits he had, his insurance company pays for a panoramic xray every five years, he did not understand why the staff at Coastal Dental told him it was not covered, I think I understand, if they are able to get new patients to pay $48 upfront, then charge their insurance company it's a win win for them, Beware of this dental office and dentists, they are lying to new patients about coverage or no one even bothered to call the insurance company to find out what my son's insurance paid for, either way they try to strong arm new patients for deep cleanings and payments for panoramic xrays, they are not honest and when confronted they call people "liars" Find another dentist
