DO NOT USE FINALRENTALS! This vendor is extremely deceptive and dishonest. They are posting scam rental offers through third party vendors like Discovercars.com. If you use this company, (which you SHOULD NOT) you must read EVERY piece of fine print in the renter's contract. They embed fraudulent terms in fine print that will commit you to spending much more when you get to the rental desk. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
Discovercars.com listed a car rental in Palermo for a small compact car at the airport with a company FINALRENTAL for approximately $80. I booked the car to start a driving tour of Sicily. Upon arriving to the airport by bus we were advised to take a shuttle to a rental lot on a hill far away from any public transportation. I had prepared my international driver's license and all documents including my airline tickets and credit card.
Upon greeting me the representative looked at the reservation and said that my rental price was only good if my plane into Sicily arrived on the first day of the rental. I had arrived the day prior, so he said the price was invalid and that I'd have to pay an additional 125 Euros to rent the car in addition to what I had already paid.
Now, it makes no sense that the day a car rental starts has anything at all to do with when one's plane arrives in the city of rental. I had not booked the car rental in conjunction with my airline ticket. Nowhere on my rental voucher was this requirement listed. I immediately challenged the rental agent and he insisted on contacting the representative from Discovercars.com. A female phone representative spoke to me in English and apologized but said that this policy was something local car companies sometimes do. I asked the Discovercars.com representative why they would work with a company that behaves in such a dishonest and abusive manner and was told that the company can't do anything about it. I was given the options of paying the extortion fee and getting $30 refunded, making a reservation through a different car company located at a remote location with unclear car availability, or fending for myself. Trapped in a foreign country on the side of a hill, I had no choice but to pay the extra fee of 125 Euros. After raising her voice at me for being upset at the situation, The Discovercars.com representative seemed pleased with my choice.
FINAL RENTALS is clearly luring customers in on third party sites with good prices, trapping them at the rental desk and then essentially extorting huge fees when you have no other recourse. They should not be in business and should be investigated by the police.
They are criminals.
