Mother denied access to sons' body
On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, my son's body was delivered to premier funeral services. My name is Mrs. Gertrude love, the legal mother of Mr. Kevin Dinkins. The decision to have my son's body transferred from west palm beach medical examiner office to this facility was not my decision. On moving forward I reached out to the facility, had a conversation with someone employed by the name of Ken, employed by the facility. I asked Ken a line of questions associated with my legal son, Kevin Dinkins. At this point ken asked me numerous questions to the effect of "Who are you to Kevin Dinkins?", I responded "My name is Gertrude Love, and I am Mr. Kevin Dinkins Legal Mother". Ken then asked me a second question "When is your son's birthday?", I gave him my son's birthday, that's when he replied, "Your name is nowhere on the paperwork or the draft death certificate.". On a mental note, while still under the grievance process of the loss of my husband recently and now my son, I responded calmly "Whose name is on my son's death certificate?". Ken responded Gwendolyn and Kevin. I responded, "They are not my son's parents due to abuse and neglect and prison.". I requested to Ken, please give me your email address. so, I can email you over a certified copy of the legal birth certificate of Mr. Kevin Dinkins. Before I can get off the phone and email the documentation, Ken in a very stern voice said to me "Only the biological parents name can go on the deaths certificate.". After emailing the birth certificate, I then called Veterans administration and vital statistics office in Tallahassee while holding on the phone with them while they were researching my identity and relationship to Mr. Kevin Dinkins, they returned to the phone with the VERDICT. Mrs. Gertrude Love and Mr. Jerry Dinkins, you are the legal parents of Mr. Kevin Dinkins. Ms. Connie Mathers, the supervisor of in the Vital Statistics office of the state of Florida initiated the phone call to the owner "John" at premier funeral services. Ms. Mathers instructed John to remove any and every name on the parent's portion of said death certificate, and in the parent's part of the application to insert Gertrude love and jerry Dinkins. Out of my pain and respect for me as a grieving mother again, Ms. Mathers informed me that everything was corrected. On the 12 February, I drove 2 hours to premier services to confirm the correction of the names on said death certificate. ken nor john was present at the establishment to confirm the correction. I spoke to the secretary; I believe her name is Judy. Upon me walking entering the door, and I informed her who I was and who my son is. Without extending any condolences to the loss of my son, she immediate followed up with how she could help me. I responded I'm here to confirm that the corrections have been made accurately as far Kevins parents being Mr. jerry Dinkins and Mrs. Gertrude love has been completed per the conversation with the supervisor of vital statistic office of the state of Florida, Ms. connie Mathers. Today being February 13, 2026. I called to speak to the director of the facility named John to ask if I'm able to come and view my son's body. John responded "No". I would have to ask Mr. Kevin Dinkins husband, Mr. Ellis-Reed Maynell. I responded to John "I am Mr. Kevin Dinkins's mother. I shouldn't have to ask anybody to see my precious son's body.". I hung up the phone immediately because due to me being in the grievance process due to the loss of my husband, Mr. Jerry Dinkins, and now grieving my son, Kevin Dinkins. This pain is unbearable as a mother to lose her husband and now her child. Premier is the most unprofessional, unsupportive, and horrible facility that I've ever encountered. This place has no compassion, no empathy, and most of all, no respect for a mother losing her child. Whomever reads my review in your time of grievance, do not make the mistake my sons husband made in choosing premier funeral services.
