Forever traumatized
Attending this high school was a deeply formative experience for all the wrong reasons. While these years should be focused on growth, safety, and preparation for the future, my time here was defined by a toxic environment that has had a permanent impact on my life. To be completely honest, I am still severely traumatized to this day thanks to this institution. The failures of this school are systemic, and the lack of protection for students is staggering.
Severe Ableism and Administrative Neglect: One of the most painful aspects of this school is the severe ableism that persists within its walls. Students with disabilities or specific learning needs are often treated as an afterthought or a burden rather than a valued part of the student body. The lack of genuine support and the dismissive attitude from the administration toward necessary accommodations create a barrier to education that is both unfair and cruel. Instead of fostering an inclusive learning environment, the school’s culture reinforces a sense of "otherness" that is incredibly damaging to a young person's self-esteem.
A Culture of Bullying and Abuse: The social climate at this high school is defined by a rampant culture of bullying. This is not just a case of "kids being kids"; it is a pervasive atmosphere of intimidation and emotional abuse that runs through the hallways. Because the administration often fails to implement meaningful consequences, this behavior is allowed to flourish. For many students, the school day is not about learning, but about navigating a gauntlet of social hostility. This environment of unchecked abuse is a primary reason why the trauma of attending this school persists long after graduation.
Systemic Racism and Exclusion: Furthermore, racism and discriminatory behavior run rampant throughout the campus. There is a profound lack of cultural competency, and the administration’s "colorblind" approach often results in the marginalization of those who are already vulnerable. This lack of inclusivity creates a deep sense of isolation and contributes to the overall toxic nature of the school.
Safety and Substance Issues: The physical safety of the students also feels like a secondary concern. Drugs are a major, visible problem on this campus, and substance issues are often common knowledge among the student body while being seemingly ignored by those in charge. This creates an unpredictable and often dangerous atmosphere that is entirely inappropriate for a secondary education setting.
Final Verdict: I am writing this as a warning to parents and students: do not be misled by the school’s outward appearance. The cost of attending this high school is far too high for one’s mental and emotional health. An institution that allows bullying, drugs, racism, and ableism to take root is not a place of learning—it is a place of harm. I strongly urge anyone considering this school to look for an environment that actually prioritizes the safety and dignity of its students.
