Truly enlightening experience, well worth the admission fee for the depth and impact of the exhibits. The only thing i would reccommend would be a couple more hands on exhibits for the smaller kids. All the staff is amazing.

Was excited to shop for things made by people either in or related to the tribe. The men working there appeared dumbstruck when asked. We've traveled a bit... And bought baskets for ourselves and some friends that collect. Large and small beautiful baskets from Swaziland, South Africa, Belize, Guatamala etc... At a fraction of the price... And more than just the 3 small ones on a shelf each selling for over $200. Oh well. Some cultures still continue artful traditions of day to day living and survival... Wish that were the case here.

Awesome gem telling the history of our local native Americans. I really enjoyed the motion activated displays and 2 movie theaters. The prophecies that guided them are uncanny, that there were people that were red, white, yellow, and black even before any contact with Europeans. They have a great flood in their history too. For those who have posted earlier about finding the displays showing the broken treaties and illness that came with the Europeans upsetting it is the history of their people and is our story of how our interactions were, even if it makes us uncomfortable it needs to be remembered. I am shocked that I didn't know that they were not made American citizens until 1924, and unable to vote, in their Homeland and fighting in wars, even WW I. Eye opening and beautiful displays of a balanced and centered existence. Really worth the time and much more value than the admission of $6.50 would lead you to believe. For the person complaining about foreign made goods-- every souvenir shop has trinkets that are affordable for tourists and meant for kids. Also on display are artisan made jewelry and sweetgrass baskets that are some of the best I've ever seen. These are of course behind the counter and not easily accessed, and signed by the artists. There is art and real native crafts here too, you just have to look.

First half of the museum was great. Second half of the museum was basically bashing the USA and white people.

I really enjoyed the first animated movie, discussed how all the races are supposed to work together. Then, I get to the second half of the museum and thought oh how far they ve fallen from their creation story.

It was the highlight of our trip to Michigan! I learned so much about my heritage. I can't wait to return with my other two children. I wish I had more money to buy some of the gorgeous jewelry they had available for purchase.
