The abuse I received here, destroyed a friendship, caused me to tailspin into depression, extinguished my flame and on top of that, ruined my intestinal health. It took me 5 years to untangle myself from it all, and in all honesty, my youthful passion never returned. If you are a parent DO NOT send your son or daughter here.

Did my DTS and SOW back in 2008-2009 here when the base was still in Claisebrook.
One of the best decisions I've ever made to go here. Australia will always have the sweet spot in my heart.
I was nurtured in knowing God here, I enountered His presence like never before. Breakthroughs and healings from wounded heart, Jesus gave me a new heart through YWAM Perth. Thank you Jesus, thank you YWAM.

Great little cafe and General Store open daily on site and op shop nearby to meet the needs of this growing and vibrant Christian missionary community. Fun and charismatic worship service every Friday night. It is a very busy place with hundreds of people on task with their various ministry activities and prayer meetings. A great place to check out if you are considering a career in missions, or more generally in full-time ministry.

The organisation has many well meaning groups. Please reconsider doing a DTS with YWAM.
The school is designed to break the participants spirit and will. Their own common sense and thinking replaced with the cult like doctrine of YWAM.
The DTS aims to bring the students under the higher power and controlling authority of the leaders. Complete submission is required and any sensible concern or questioning of the process and teaching is seen as rebellion and disunity. This leads to the students being entirely dependant on the leaders and not God or the students own ability to make good decisions.
This is a dangerous process and has lead to many cases of manipulation , spiritual, and emotional abuse in YWAM.
Some students have great experiences with YWAM. Please be wary before you consider doing a DTS. The teaching is questionable and manipulative .Talk to your pastor about other opportunities for biblical training.

In the kindest way possible, I would not recommend this base at all. There were many things that felt too pressuring and manipulative for me, and even though they would assure me that there was no pressure in their teaching, I came home to share my experiences and many were extremely shocked even with my conservative, thorough explanation. I also injured myself in the beginning of outreach and now, 11 months later, need surgery because of pushing myself too hard under the team expectations of outreach. Don't get me wrong, I don't regret doing it because God works everything for good, but the teaching was extremely swayed toward Arminian theology and very open-theistic with hints of semi-pelagian teaching as well. I didn't witness much grace on the base at all. A couple of the main base leaders are incredible, but the teaching from others is very Arminian and seems to almost come from a fear of losing salvation instead of love. Not much grace consisently observed in teaching and practice. Overall, not reformed and if you're for Calvinism, just don't go. The teaching seems to makes sense in the moment, but throughout all twelve weeks of lecture their theology contradicts itself. On a postive note, they understand how to create long-lasting change even with short-term mission trips, and I think that is an encouraging take-away. I also had the privledge of meeting other students from all over the world and they are still some of my most cherished friends. On the base, just know when to say no and stand your ground in the most honoring way possible. Overall, incredible brothers and sisters in Christ and passionate about the right things, but the whole of it was not great and their theology is not reformed and actually very damaging as a whole.
