About Youth Empowerment and Development Initiative (YEDI)
Youth Empowerment and Development Initiative (YEDI) is a non-profit organization that focuses on empowering young people in Nigeria. The organization was founded in 2011 by a group of young professionals who were passionate about creating positive change in their communities. Since then, YEDI has grown to become one of the leading youth-focused organizations in Nigeria.
YEDI's mission is to empower young people with the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to make informed decisions about their health and well-being. The organization achieves this through a range of programs that focus on education, health promotion, and leadership development.
One of YEDI's flagship programs is the Grassroot Soccer program. This program uses soccer as a tool for promoting HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention among young people. Through interactive games and activities, participants learn about HIV/AIDS transmission, prevention methods, and how to access testing and treatment services.
Another key program offered by YEDI is the Adolescent Health Information Project (AHIP). This program provides young people with accurate information about sexual health, reproductive rights, gender-based violence prevention, mental health support services available to them.
In addition to these programs focused on youth empowerment through education and health promotion initiatives; YEDI also offers leadership development opportunities for young people through its Youth Leadership Program (YLP). This program equips participants with essential skills such as communication skills; critical thinking abilities; problem-solving techniques; team-building strategies etc., which are necessary for success both personally & professionally.
Over the years since its inception; YEDI has received support from various individuals & organizations including UNICEF Nigeria; USAID Nigeria Mission Office etc., which have helped it expand its reach across different regions within Nigeria thereby impacting more lives positively than ever before!
