Fairly good service, the rooms are nice and the location is great: right by a number of good restaurants and 8 minutes by foot to the Port Authority terminal. The rooftop terrace bar is expensive but has a great vibe. I have stayed several times and will stay again.

Very small rooms, but all in all comfortable and complete with everything you need. Complicated and unclear payment system, especially what they call "experience fee" is a half-rip. Excellent breakfasts in quality and quantity. A special praise to our waiter very "British" Paul, good and likeable.

Retractable beds are an appreciated feature when rooms are already cramped. Also blinds that actually block sunlight would be great.
Affordable and within walking distance of the Javitz Center.

Horrible experience. Paid extra for a terrace room that was dirty and broken down. The manager was pointedly rude (to us AND the employees). One star is for those employees. The front desk staff was very apologetic during the several situations that occurred (and seemed almost EMBARRASSED by their "boss") and the housekeeping members we encountered tried their best despite the uncaring and uninformative manager. We visit the city a bunch, and try to experience different hotels. We definitely won't ever return or recommend this hotel.

Highs and lows

Highs and lows

We arrived early at 1pm to discover that early check-in would be an additional charge of around $30 dollars, so decided to leave our bags at the automated baggage drop until 3pm. Attempted to use the automated baggage drop but it wasn't working, after 5 minutes a hotel employee informed me that he could assist and for $2 dollars per bag leave them in a manual left luggage. We arrived back almost 2 hours later to find that our cases still hasn't been checked into the left luggage but instead left (at times unattended) in the lobby.
Check-in itself was plain sailing and the mystery 'resort free' (not mentioned on booking) wasn't evident or mentioned, so i took our room key and headed to the elevator. Room wayfinders were poor, but well versed guests helped us and everyone else to a second set of elevators that led to the rooms. The rooms themselves we small but functional with the beds being very comfortable and the quality of bedding high. The room however was pretty tired, with marks and stains all over the bathroom, strains on the mattress, rusty chrome in the bathroom etc. The curtain between the bathroom area and bed had also removed so sounds, smells and a general lack of privacy was a real issue. The aircon is really poorly placed in our room, you are either too hot or if you turn the aircon on, your face is cold and lower body fine, needs a directional fan cover so you're not blasted in the face. Next, technology within the hotel... Check-in worked well for us(not the case for all i believe) but the Wi-Fi in the room kept dropping out, casting Netflix etc to the tv simply didn't work, the 'to go menu' on channel 71' was an windows 7 expiry notice which upon questioning the front desk wasn't really room service at all (a first for me, no room service option!). Tried calling various departments using the in room telephone, but yet another technology that isn't fit for purpose. The line cuts out every few words making it impossible to hear any of the menus or have a conversation. Had a few attempts over the three day stay and the result was the same each time. Oh, I forgot to mention, I've had an open Messenger query with the hotel about the casting and Wi-Fi issue for three days, still awaiting any kind of response.
On top of everything, the staff are pretty unhelpful and a little offhand, the common areas were not accessible to me, the two times i attempted to use the outside space, nearly all of the tables were empty, yet all had reserved signs against them, looks like that 'guest' areas are available for booking to non-guests, there was even a child's birthday party one night, not an issue but when guests unable to use those paid for facilities then yes it does become an issue. Especially when, this morning when I receive a checkout notice and bill of almost $40 per night for resort services!!! What resort services am i paying for? the temperamental Wi-Fi? the non existent room service?, the outside spaces that i couldn't use? The off-hand staff? Ticket discounts that i didn't need? It's clear to me that profits are ahead of the customer experience at Yotel, namely for the following reasons:
*A lack of price transparency (resort fee) being a tax benefit to the hotel and does nothing for the guest
* Ineffective implementation of technology over well trained and helpful staff
*Cost cutting and reduction of customer facilities (lack of coffee in room, room service etc.)
*Poor room upkeep
*Charging whenever possible with the introduction of additional revenue streams, early check-in and late checkout fees, resort fee and function room rental.
Overall comfy beds but wouldn't come back again as the concept doesn't match the reality and frankly Yotel nyc have put profits ahead of customer experience.

This was by far the worse hotel I have ever stayed in. The room was extremely small, shower was moldy and leaking. The TV went off multiple times in the middle of the night on its own. Soaps were disgusting and locked in, very unsanitary. The ironing board was about a foot and half which made it difficult to iron clothes in the morning (I was on business.) Overall, looked like it wasn t cleaned in months.

My wife and I stayed here recently for 4 nights. W...

My wife and I stayed here recently for 4 nights. We had such high hopes for Yotel, but ultimately it was a rather unpleasant experience... The pictures and website seemed very promising and we were definitely very excited to stay here! However, as our stay went on, we only found more and more things about the room and hotel that bothered us.

Google apparently has a max length on reviews, so I had to be rather brief to fit all my thoughts here.

Thoughts:
The location is pretty good. We intentionally picked it as it was fairly central to a few sights that we wanted to see.

The reclining feature of the bed was nice.

The pillows were pretty awful to me, but that is a highly subjective and personal preference. My wife did not have any issues with them. These pillows are more squishy than firm.

The check-in and check-out process was nice and smooth. My card didn't work for the elevator, but did work for my room, for the first two days. This seemed to fix itself over time.

The shower head was super nice! You get a lot of volume coming down from the monsoon head.

There is no door or curtain to the shower which means you get water EVERYWHERE outside in front of the toilet. This seems to be a well known fact to the cleaning crew as they always left a towel at the base of the shower for us to use to soak it up.

Our shower made weird noises (and sometimes even leaked water) when the room next door was taking a shower.

There is absolutely no privacy in the bathroom. My wife and I had a room with the sliding glass door in front of the toilet, but that was still not very privacy-friendly.

The window is right in front of the toilet.

The toilet paper is some of the thinnest stuff ever. I've honestly had better toilet paper at gas stations.

Despite there being a solid blind, and a translucent blind, and our room being on the west face of the hotel, and the sun rising in the east, it still somehow managed to let in enough light to wake us up early in the morning. The blind didn't provide entire coverage of the window.

The room was SO SMALL which adds to the privacy concerns so make sure that you're super comfortable with whomever you'll be sharing a room with.

Our room door (cabin 1933) would not close on its own when we left. We had to make sure to pull it closed and make sure it wouldn't open simply by pushing it every time we left the room.

The built-in Chromecast didn't work when we arrived. I called the front desk for some assistance and they said someone would be right up to fix it. 20 minutes passed and no one had come, so I called back and they said that there was nothing they could do except to reset it, so they did that remotely. I don't know why they didn't just say that to begin with instead of lying and telling me that someone would be up shortly. I watched the TV as they reset the Chromecast remotely, and it still did not work on my wife's iPhone or my Pixel 2... As avid users of our Chromecast at home, I must specify it is not user error.

There are some reserved channels in the 70s range for Yotel stuff. These channels rarely worked. We wanted to order from their Food To Go menu, but we only managed to get that channel to work on day 3. When I dialed 6301 on my phone to order, they told me that "the restaurant and hotel aren't actually the same" and that we would have to come down to Green Fig. Why was the TV not updated to reflect that?

Green Fig was awful, extremely overpriced food. We didn't even get the $15 off as promised from the experience fee. What is the experience fee for then?! My sloppy joe tasted store bought and my wife didn't like her BBQ chicken flatbread.

There is no fridge or microwave, so forget going to the grocery or keeping leftovers.

The trim around the TV (or something...) made it difficult to turn on, but somehow seemed to operate fine after it was on.

TL;DR; Don't stay at Yotel. It was the worst hotel I've been in. My stay wound up costing right around $1,600 so please look elsewhere first if you can find a comparable price.

Hilariously awesome hotel. The pod is just the right size for couple. We had no trouble. The bathroom on the fourth may occasionally be needed to avoid divorce (depending on diet :). If you have a problem with unisex bathrooms, this likely isn't the place for you. The stalls are full standard doors, they are essentially a separate room. No big deal. The fourth floor is lively. It was busier than expected. Much hustle and bustle. The back storage was full when we arrived on an early fight into LGA. Be warned they may not have room. Early check in is 25$ if available but well worth it in this case. Enjoyable. Will likely stay again.

Everytime I call I get a rude person! Today I spoke to someone named Paula who asked me to hold on and hung up on me. I've been trying to make reservations on different occasions starting from last year for the terrace suite constantly have a hard time booking.

We decided to go a little crazy and get a vip king suite. The only positive thing I can say about the room is that it wasn't extremely small. The "automatic check in" didn't work, it was unable to find the reservation we had made months prior. The carpets were covered in stains. It was so bad that we were nervous about walking barefoot on them. The room safe didn't work. The circular bed did not rotate and it was very stiff and uncomfortable. Our TV remote had no batteries in it and it took them about an hour to get us a replacement for it. The chrome casts on the TV were constantly cutting out and we had to call them to get one reset because it stopped working and went back to the setup screen. And they were unable to consistently stream at 480p. Despite bringing all of this to the attention of the staff, we were offered no discount on the nightly room cost. The best they could do was waive a $35 cleaning/maintenance fee. Which, compared to the about $700 per night cost of the room is entirely insignificant. This hotel was the most disappointing part of our trip.

I stayed at Yotel in Boston and had a positive experience so I tried this one. The room was significantly smaller. Tough to move around when bed is laid out. For a "premium view", I didn't necessarily feel like I had either quality. I was staring at a brick wall, but it was not a city view. The vinal accents on the bed were torn, there was rust and mold in the corners of the shower. This was not the experience I expected or hoped for. The staff is very nice, but not much they could do at the time to resolve these issues. Also, the room is very quiet from the city sounds, but noise from the hallway and neighbors was loud. The location was great for what we needed to do in the city.

Still a great place to stay if you want a good combination of value and location in Manhattan. The rooms are small - there s no escaping that - but the clever design and tech helps a lot. The bed literally squeezes out of the way for you! The communal areas are great, so if you re feeling claustrophobic in your room (first of all, you should be out enjoying New York!) you can find a comfortable spot in one of the various well-designed lobby areas, restaurant or outdoor bar. The bar is a pretty cool destination in its own right. The breakfast is expensive but the coffee bar provides a very good alternative for much less. Good coffee, too. The fixtures are looking a little tired in places - the rooms may need redecorating soon - but it s a cool place for the price. I ll stay here again.

Rooms were a good deal for the value. No bathroom doors in some rooms is still strange, no matter how efficient the design goal. Elevator requires a transfer from the 4th floor. Location is a bit west and alone (subway is a few blocks away AND its the port authority) but makes up for the inconvenience by being on a busy road easy to catch a cab. Would recommend for value and cleanliness.

While the initial pricing looks great, add their ridiculous resort fee and then NY taxes and the two added up to more than 1/3 the cost of the stay. For $300/night for a "cabin", I'd much prefer a real hotel with separate bathroom. Membership may save you $$. I did not look into this since I don't travel enough to make this worth it.

While it sounds good that they have a 4th floor common meeting area and balcony, you can't just go out and use the balcony....you need to order drinks or food. Even the indoor sitting area has table tents saying that you can't bring in your own beverage or delectable. That really bugged me. What exactly am I paying a resort fee for? If you're into the hipster scene and want to pay for it, it's all yours. Staff were wonderful and helpful.

Great location, 15 minutes to Times Square as well as the harbour. Easy subway access. Walls are a bit thin, so you hear random noises at times during the night. Comfy beds, nice showers, and a caring staff with a decent price, would stay here again.

Well located, modern and comfortable. In the room (of excellent size by calculating the average of the hotels in the area) you can find all the things you need!
The idea of LED lights that make the environment almost futuristic is excellent.
Clean and well organized. Nice and very helpful staff.
Recommended if you are looking for something new and special!
Particularly suitable for young people.

Super modern, Japanese-style efficiency. Great value, and just a 10 minute walk from Megabus. Free luggage storage after checkout, so you can still run around the city. Awesome outdoor patio. Older folks might be a bit turned off by the vibe, but definitely worth a try.

The staff is friendly and helpful. I stopped in the bar and they were wrapping up a private event, but soon as was seated at the bar. The issues I have are with the room. I went to adjust the thermostat and it fell off the well with the touch of a button. There were fingerprints on the mirror above the bed. Not just smudges but actual fingerprints (see pics). This was never addressed despite a request for something to clean the mirror with. The sink also had some unknown substance on it as if it had never been wiped down. Finally, there were a couple hairs in shower. Again, wonderful staff and atmosphere. Could stand a little more attention to detail when it comes to cleanliness.

So much fun! Love the incredible friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff, love the pod/cabins (like being on a futuristic space ship or a luxury cruise cabin), love the general hip ambience. The shower was powerful and lovely. Intelligently designed cabins have a power controlled couch that converts into a double bed. It's not really in Times Square, it's more Hell's Kitchen and a bit out of the way. And they lose a star because the bed is more like a futon than a bed, so not super comfortable. But I enjoyed the hell out of it and the genuine friendliness of the staff made up for everything!

Definitely an eccentric vibe to it. Rooms are small but manageable since most aren't going to spend much time in their rooms here~ The restaurant and bar are nice and definitely have a multi-colored low light feel to them. The bar has an outside area and there's a a little area called The Green Room 42 where they do little shows. For instance, we were told there was an acapella group performing for $19 a ticket. Cute, different kinda place.

This hotel is so unique and trendy! I loved it!! The second floor offers a bar/restaurant and cafe, along with a concierge. Everyone was very accommodating and friendly. The room was GORGEOUS, complete with ambient backlighting behind the TV and an amazingly comfortable bed. It was a smaller room that what my boyfriend and I are accustomed to staying in, but well worth it! We ate outside on the rooftop area (what a great space!!), and breakfast was delicious. We will definitely be back!

Disgusting! Be careful!

I really travel a lot and I thought I have seen bad. This place took it to another level. Blood stains on the sheets, all surfaces are yellow and sticky, mold in the corners and don t get me started on the showers. Had to change rooms, then at least without stains on the bed but still really bad. The worst 2 nights in my life!!
