I love the Y but I hope they make Saltwater pools soon with Safer pipes to keep the pipes safe to help them not switch it back to Harsh Chlorine. Chlorine is bad for the environment. Saltwater is all natural eco friendly.

This fully equipped, if not outdated gym offers the most amenities and services for your dollar. There is nothing missing from the free weight area, which also houses some extra floor space for stretching and core work. The staff are very friendly. The pool has a lifeguard at all times and though small, is always warm. They offer towel service and monthly lockers. There are many classes and sports leagues, as well as informal signups for group play.

All this, plus it is centrally located downtown.

There is only one problem with the YMCA: they do not offer a reduced membership 4 all the plugging and positive PR I provide. I gasped in horror anytime someone tells me they're not taking advantage of this amazing community resource. The YMCA provides a diverse and inclusive facility aimed at increasing wellbeing for all. The architecture and Ambience of the Historic Site are unmatched by any YMCA I have ever traveled to. I sincerely love walking up those steps From the street, grasping the beautiful vintage brass handrail, and emerging into a lobby with walls clad in deep mahogany, up to a front desk, where ever kind and familial faced captains(who are occasionally obscured by neatly folded mounds of fresh fluffy warm white towels-which are a perfect cherry on top of a workout dessert such as the utilization of the sauna, and clean-hot-high-pressure-showers). Lastly, their vending machine (which accepts credit cards) has an all natural additive-free beef jerky for $2. Get Swole, get Whole at the downtown YMCA

Terrific health facility in a beautiful old building. Clean, well maintained. The staff there is the most helpful and most genuinely friendly I've ever encountered. My wife likes the workout spot in the women's locker room.

The jewel of the downtown fitness centers! It's located in a historic Hotel in the NW part of the downtown area; however, don't let the building fool you! The equipment is modern and up-to-date, and the staff is friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. They even provide free parking after 3pm M-F, and they provide free parking on the weekends too!

This YMCA has a lot of historic and urban character. It s a huge facility with a lot to offer. The machines aren t quite as new or sleek as at some other central Ohio locations, but they are clean, plentiful, and in good repair.

This place is like Jekyll and Hide. If your on the exercise side everything is great and easily enjoyable. But IF your on the residence side things are a lot different. The residence side is full of tiny rooms with locked windows. The people who work on the residence side, actually work for the shelter system, and only help people in government programs. The 5th floor is full of ex felons and run by Alvis House.

This is a needed organization and facility for men to transition from homelessness to productive members of our society. They just need to want it. There is a new property manager that I just like very much. I love her drive, dedication to the tenants, and her forward thinking. I believe she is who is needed to propel this organization reputation in the right direction.

Been staying at the homeless shelter and its been nothing but disrespect. Today i was exited just because i wasnt there for the bed count. How can i be at the bed count when i was at work? I had work verification and everything. Plus some of my belongs are missing. Also when i asked if i can get some of my things, Antonio said "your getting none of your things".

This is the best kept secret as far as gyms go in the city of Columbus. I love that it's never very crowded and is always really clean. If you're okay with working out in an old building and paying for parking at a meter, you can't beat it. Parking is free at the Marconi Blvd Garage after 3pm on weekdays and all day on weekends.

Downtown YMCA Residents

Downtown YMCA Residents
Has been my home for almost
8 year's. Nov/19/2020
Will make 8 year's of living here and paying my rent and I miss going next door to the gym membership side to workout and since the covid19 virus the gym has been closed and the gym side will eventually be moved across the street at 39 W. Long Street because this building will be closing down because it's to costly to renovate.

Has a pretty serious old-fashioned charm thing going. Basically, if you want to work out in 1975, this is your jam. Considerably more room for bar-weight lifting than most other Y's in all of the metro area.

There is no parking at this location. We have to pay a street meter when we go. This facility is also next to a mens shelter/ halfway house or both, and a lot of men standing around the facility. When we sign out basketballs, etc. we are asked to leave something as collateral, keys, etc.. Other than that, we ve enjoyed this facility.

There is absolutely no parking and you have to park at a meter which cost an extra $30 a month on top of your membership that s already expensive, and also when you walk in A bunch of homeless people are smoking weed, or asking for money...it s frustrating.

Friendly and helpful staff. The pool and steam room are amazing, and the historic building is gorgeous!
Towels are always available and water in the showers is always warm which is a plus!

Much better alternative to the other "boutique" type gym across the street. The equipment isn't always broken, and the amenities make it worth much more.

I experienced at the y has been most gracious when you consider all the staff members that go out of your way and all of the resources better available to the residence although it is been a ramp-up which is no different than just average life. I can't say enough about the security and availability of so many things that are helpful. Now that I missed nomination for being able to get on the YMCA resident board I've still in contact with them a lot of the resident board members I'm trying to be the best influence possible in all areas to all those that are around me thank you so much wife you ever want a new jingle besides it's fun to live with the YMCA by village boys I'm heavy in the music and I've got one for you here's a little lyrical jingle that you can imagine whatever you want about how sounds but don't stop at the why I don't stop at the y don't stop at the YMCA don't stop at the y don't stop at the y don't stop at the y m c a ain't no party like a holy ghost party cuz the Holy ghost party don't stop at the y don't stop at the y LOL LOL LOL cordially Robert Atkinson#773

I like this location but gave 3 stars because of the element you have o deal with there. Usually you have to walk through a bunch of cigarette smoke to get inside, or drug addict types or seedy looking residents hanging aound. The a staff is a great. Justin, Al, Lauren and the rest of the staff are friendly and make US feel welcomed always

They can do a little more at the other facilities that s sponsored by them. They have way to many responsibilities. Some are understaffed so bad that clients can t be served at a sufficient time frame
