70 $ for a room and share the bath with 4 more rooms . Too much. Rooms too small than you imagine even . They have every thing sport and cafe . But they close at 5 PM so if you want coffee you have to take taxi to the centre of city

September 2017. We stay at YMCA Christchurch. Overall the staff was very helpful but the fat cleaner was immoral. She yelled at me in the elevator because I couldn't remember what level my room was. Small elevator too.

Excellent hostel! Affordable & a great location in Christchurch near sites. Open 24/7, and staff very helpful. Parking included if needed. Comfy rooms/beds & very clean. Updated bathrooms. Best hostel I've ever stayed at.

Not that clean. But.. they were renovating at the time we stayed there and part of the bathrooms were already done, and these where the best ones I had used in every hostel I stayed in NewZealand

wifi is available at an additional cost. However, it is slow enough to incredible speed. And it is frequently disconnected. If you tried to post a single photo to SNS. It would need 10 minutes. And it can only recognize one. A plurality of terminals is impossible. very bad.

Best thing is that it's in the center of Christchurch. Good for one or two nights. Just hope that there is not a bus load of people there, mostly when there are Asians its very busy, noisy (don't know why they want to go true all of their plastic bags at like 6 in the morning (usually not to actually check out after). Also it"s difficult to use the kitchen, small and with big groups hard to get your dinner cooked. Hand and shower soap are hardly refilled. You have to pay for laundry, wifi etc. There are better options and would recommend looking at other places and their prices and what they offer.

I dont mind the place, quite good actually. I stayed back in 2008 and the location is good. Nice clean room and comfy beds. Wall quite thin though as i heard "funny" noises at night of someone doing it. so funny ... overall it is a good place to stay, i would not mind to stay here again on my next visit.

Friendly and super helpful staff, really clean usable facilities and a fantastic location walking distance to city food and shopping plus gardens and Hagley Park, not to mention the fantastic on site events venue Papa Hou.

Near to the hospital. Super friendly staff. Quick check in. Kitchen and self laundry with coin is available. They even sell indomie in a cup. Love the vending machine. Cheap non membership gym is great. Best hostel

Handy place with backpackers accommodation along with a gym. Situated near the Christchurch CBD and Hagley Park along with the Avon River nearby with Antigua boat sheds offering punting along the River. Modern, clean with great staff and most buses will drop you off outside of the YMCA if you intend to stay there. Travel agent also located there in case you wish to book any flights or accommodation while in New Zealand.

Best backpacker i've been in NZ! We had a triple sharing room, each bed with its own electric blanket, room had a heater, closet space to hang some clothes, and a clean, modern spacious bathroom outside each room (it was almost like we had our own private bathroom). Only complaint is that room wasn't really soundproof so we were woken up at 5am by other guests banging around outside as they were leaving but that's normal in most backpackers.

One of the best hostels I've stayed in to date. They were a lifesaver with the fact that they are open 24/7. Professional and friendly staff and accommodation. safe and reliable business! Definitely would recommend.

Am I a little aggravated and more than a lot tired as I write this, sure. But it's how you'll feel if you stay here, so you should be warned: Stay away, stay far away. It's a backpackers, I get that, it's not the Ritz Carlton, or even a road side motel pay by the hour, I know there's going to be some accommodating on my part, prepubescent clientele aside this place was horridly noisy. Not because it felt like an unmonitored day care centre but because our room was situated next to a bathroom, which it seems most were. Every door in the place is heavy and has metal locks. Now, once your reach a certain level of maturity, or are the youngest of 3 boys, you learn that slamming a door causes others around you a level of discomfort. All night, every few minutes the door would slam, the locks would click. Moments later the door would open then slam again, heavy handed teens with no sense of surroundings. But I really blame the establishment. At Bunnings you can buy fabric strips that stick to the inside of a door decreasing the sound a door makes when closing by very noticeable margin. You can even get doors that have hydronic thingys up the top, which stop a door from being slammed, then close it quietly. It's true the location is great, and the room we had (220) was a nice corner room with a good view, and the bed was comfy. As they say "you get what you pay for", when you book a room what I'm really wanting though is to be able to sleep, so even if I paid $1, I wouldn't have gotten what I paid for. The people were nice, but I think they know who to ask and who not ask if they enjoyed their stay upon check out. We did not get asked. If only we had. A little vent at the check in desk may have been enough for me to let it go. Note: unless you're a backpacker who wants to drink, not sleep, meet others who hate math class and think Harry is the most over rated and Louis is the worst but you still love #1D, then you'll enjoy it!

The internet rating looks good but it actually feels normal to live. Visitors should remember to bring toiletries such as shower gel, because there is no free shampoo and shower gel, and no tea bags and coffee powder. The room type has a toilet with a toilet and an outside toilet. The toilet is quite clean. The counter at the bottom is only open until the evening. If you need to wash clothes and other services, you need to change the replacement currency. And you need to buy washing powder. The building itself is full of old elevators are often slow or suspended. The elevator needs an induction magnetic card to start! Be careful not to be scared. Kitchen: It is normal and clean. There is also hot water supply. As for the opening hours of the kitchen and restaurant, please read the announcement carefully to avoid closing.

Very friendly staff at reception but black mould in the bath was off putting. Wouldn't have left a bad review but the woman I'm assuming was the manager made me feel like a liar as I asked reception if I could leave my van parked there till lunch after check out they said that was ok then she started basically telling my off when I walked out to van around lunch time. Kinda ruined it for me the rest wasn't too bad really.

Loved the theatre size and set up. Parking allowable for patrons using the facilities but only down point was that you could hear the sound of another studio being used during the show.

Nicely located in central Christchurch: walking distance to everything, especially the Botanical Gardens. Friendly-enough staff. Rooms were clean. Standard-issue hostel-style set-up with shared kitchen and living room space.

If you let the night hospital staff park there again without getting a ticket that would be great lol not enough parking in town what do you expect people with jobs there to do??? Walk 100miles from there car? Bike???

Good location, low price and large rooms, but freezing cold in the rooms - leaky windows, heater turns off after 1h, electric blankets help but not much. Paid WiFi with weak signal. Little kitchen
