This has become an incredible summer tradition for our camper who became hooked her first 3 days of camp on her first stay away from home! Best staff, awesome counselors, good food, fun activities, Christian foundation, promotes independence, confidence and self reliance within a clean, healthy, safe, well-supervised beautiful environment.

Camp Grady Spruce has given me years of great experiences! From weekend cabin rentals, to group retreats, to summer camp. We have always had a wonderful time! The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. The facilities are rustic, but clean. The food is good. The environment is absolutely gorgeous! Possum Kingdom Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in Texas for sure! No matter what you're planning to do at CGS, you will love it!

I am so blessed to be able to came here with some of the best people in the world. Our group started out with the YMCA father daughter campouts. When that program ended, we decided to keep the twice a year tradition. We come here every fall and spring and it is amazing. There is absolutely nothing I would change about this place. We have been on a total of 13 campouts and looking towards a 14th!

My daughter has been attending Camp Grady Spruce for several years. She is always enthusiastic to go! She has so much fun sailing, boating, riding horses and meeting new friends. She loves the bus that comes to pick her up and also brings her back. Each time when she retuns homes she wishes she had stayed longer. Great experience. This is coming from a parent who attend and loved Camp Longhorn. She can't wait until this summer!!

Outside of my parents, I attribute the man I am today to YMCA Camp Grady Spruce. The character values of the Y shaped my outlook on relationships, added countless lessons in leadership, and best of all formed my faith out in God's creation.

The magic and spirit of camp is life changing for children. I've seen the quietest kid break out of their shell and become loud and proud... to the boastful become humble knowing they're part of something bigger. These kids are surrounded by loving role models that only want the best for them and the independence gained serves them well beyond into adulthood.

Take a look at Camp Grady Spruce-- you won't regret it.

I would like to know if they fixed the bed beg problem. My daughters school is taking them in February and I am still trying to make a decision if I want her to attend. It will cost me $200. I noticed they don't respond to the reviews so that makes me believe they are true. Did you take care of the bed bug problem? I don't want them, they are hard to get rid of.

I struggle sometimes with the question what does camp mean to me and how to explain it to someone else. So I find myself telling stories about other people and not about my experiences of my own. I thought about that and it made me think about how we create memories for ourselves throughout life.

I look at my friends and family and the memories that we have created and see that memories are all just little lessons plans that we have created to look back on and learn from. Not all of those memories that we have created are good lesson plans to follow but they are all memories to look back on and recognize and appreciate the life lesson that we have created. Camp gives kids the ability to create life long and memorable lessons plans to look back on where they may not have that opportunity elsewhere.

So what does camp mean to me? It means, friendship, devotion, fellowship and most important it creates memories that can never be taken away.

I love the outdoors, but the education part is absolutely boring. Our school takes the 5th graders. Each stop is around an Hour long and they expect the kids to sit there the entire time and listen to people drone on. Either shorten the stop of have more activities at the stop. I feel it s because they really don t have that much to offer. So they fill the time yammering on. The food is gross. The person who runs the program is not very personable. We say outside at a bonfire ( freezing temps and no where near the fireplace) and listened to the guy tell an terrible story the kids didn t get, while everyone is tired and freezing.

The cabins are not very clean. The mattresses are horribly uncomfortable. Was not impressed.

More time for the kids to actually hang out and experience time together or games/activities would be better.

Two Timer!

Two Timer!
My daughter attended summer camp at Grady Spruce in 2015 and loved it so much she begged to return this summer, July 2016. Loved it better than Sky Ranch, and several other camps. She said it had a "real camp feel". She loved sailing, water skiing, horseback riding, archery, and the Blob!!!!! She also loved that it was filled with grass and tress, no concrete which was too hot at other camps.

I went there with my school. We had so much fun we wish we could go again. The only problem was I fell on Devil's Mountain (not off) and my friend got kicked by a horse but we're both fine now.

This place is a family tradition. My husband was a counselor in college, and my boys have been going to camp there since they were 7. We have so many great friends that we have met there that have become our second family. I expect the relationships my kids have through camp to continue throughout their life.
