Write/Speak/Code: Empowering Women in Tech
Write/Speak/Code is a non-profit organization that aims to empower women and non-binary individuals in the tech industry. Founded in 2013, the organization has been on a mission to promote visibility and leadership of technologists with marginalized genders through peer-led professional development.
The tech industry has long been dominated by men, making it difficult for women and non-binary individuals to break into the field. Write/Speak/Code recognizes this issue and seeks to address it by providing a safe space for these individuals to learn, grow, and connect with others who share their experiences.
One of the ways Write/Speak/Code achieves its mission is through its annual conference. The conference brings together hundreds of women and non-binary technologists from around the world for three days of workshops, talks, networking events, and more. Attendees have the opportunity to learn new skills, share their knowledge with others, and build meaningful connections that can last a lifetime.
In addition to its annual conference, Write/Speak/Code also offers local meetups throughout the year. These meetups provide an opportunity for members of the community to come together on a regular basis for networking events or skill-building workshops.
Another key aspect of Write/Speak/Code's work is its mentorship program. The program pairs experienced technologists with those who are just starting out or looking to advance their careers. Mentors provide guidance on everything from technical skills development to career advancement strategies.
Write/Speak/Code also offers online resources such as webinars and blog posts that cover topics ranging from coding best practices to navigating workplace dynamics as a woman or non-binary individual in tech.
Overall, Write/Speak/Code is doing important work in promoting diversity and inclusion within the tech industry. By providing opportunities for women and non-binary individuals to connect with one another, learn new skills, receive mentorship support, and gain visibility, the organization is helping to create a more equitable and inclusive tech industry for all.
