In 2006 I adopted my Jellybean (pound name was Pint). He was the best kitty ever & sadly passed away on July 8, 2020. His adoption was easy & everyone so helpful. I am grieving now, but when it is time, I plan to return & find my next little buddy. Will be looking for an older cat - one that is overlooked but needs a forever home too.
Our experience working with the Wood County Humane Society has been phenomenal. We contacted them about an available dog. It turned out that the dog needed a quiet home without kids and didn't work out for us...however, the lady we talked to, worked with us and based on the information given to her about our lifestyle/family, found us an amazing fit. The dog has been a great addition to our family. On top of that, within the first 30 days, they have called twice to follow up and make sure we were doing ok and offered to answer any questions we had. I strongly recommend working with these guys...they are great! Although I can't remember your names, whoever helped us with the Gerard adoption back in December, THANK YOU!!
Such nice people, very informative. Having all the history ready when we get there is so helpful and the adoption process was so easy! We adopted a cat today and she is so sweet. They made the process very easy. The facility was clean and if I'm every looking for another cat, I'll be back!
I drove a friend to WCHS for her to adopt a cat in September 2019. We both ended up coming home with one! It was obvious that everyone I dealt with in person and over the phone here is truly dedicated to the animals. Star (formerly Taylor) is an absolute sweetheart, and treats the new kitten like her own. My friend now has 3 former WCHS kitties.
Love volunteering here. The staff is great and who doesn't like getting to play with the cats and dogs all day. Updated to include a picture of the fur baby we adopted from there taken on her second gotcha day.
I am happy with and thankful for the Wood County Humane Society. I adopted a lovely older dog, named Pookie from them. I renamed Pookie, Phoebe and although I knew she would not be with me for a very long time, I still hoped she would and I loved her very much. She brought great joy to my life while she was here. Phoebe passed away in the early morning Feb 19th.
I will never forget all the good memories and everything else. I would recommend this shelter because they are compassionate and helpful. Thankful I got the chance to love this wonderful dog
