I have only been here once to hear some jazz a few years ago. Very lively place, can get a bit noisy but great atmosphere. Good place to eat. The bar is one side and the dining is on the other, lots of little arches to sit under.

There are two entrances on different sides of the street. I met up with a good friend I hadn't seen for a while, so it was a good meeting spot. There is outside seating. Staff were very friendly, attentive and welcoming. They have a fab cocktail selection, wines beers and spirits as well as a good menu, we loved our visit especially being able to catch with a good friend.

Whighams Wine Cellars is a hidden gem in the west end of the city centre overlooking Charlotte Square. Whighams is a very friendly and welcoming place to all the New and old visitors. You're able to enjoy your favourite drink, food And crucially enjoy your conversations with friends and others within the establishment. Great experience. Whether you're after a wine, lager , whisky , gin or indeed a reasonably priced bottle of bubbly. Friendly and curtious staff members. The Wine Cellar has an outside seating plan with stairs leading down from the street level. It is really a hidden gem. It can sometimes be packed on Friday's as everyone leaves their nearby offices around 5pm. Other day's of the week are the best. Pop round and see for yourselves. I bet it will not be your last visit. See ya.

Not impressed. Food ok but the service was awful! The staff were too involved in chatting with each other - should have been attentive to the patrons. Don't think it even deserves one s star

I had booked a table for 8pm for two and we knew there was to be a live jazz band playing which was great as I was looking for this anyway. Starters ordered were chicken liver parfait with oatcakes and prawn coctail. Both were very tasty. For mains my girlfriend had a white fish on a bed of greens and potatoes which was presented to the highest degree of care. I couldn't say the same for the roast beef salad main course - it looked like a simple side salad. I ate it though and I drank more to make up for my disappointment. Music was good.

A big pub with a restaurant we enjoyed our food and drink here. Seafood features a lot in the menu as does lots of Scottish produce.
Went for the seafood platter for two and it is indeed a feast, we had fries and bread too to keep it company. Innes & Gunn original time wash it down. Didn t stop there, had sticky toffee pudding and ice cream and Anster Cheddar and Highland Blue cheeses.

Nice bar, friendly staff and good food; a shame about the size of the helpings: they were rather miserly - it would be easy and economical to add a bowl of veg to the table for those with larger than small appetites...

Fantastic food, staff and French Martini's! What a brilliant night we had last night, very professional and friendly waiting/ bar and kitchen staff -such a find for a Tuesday night with the added touch of listening to some very talented musicians taking part in the music night. Can't wait to return!

The bar, food and vibe is good. My only annoyance is because I bought a voucher but they limited the number that could be used on the night I wanted to go and wouldn't allow me to book. The voucher was useless to me unfortunately.

Always like Whighans but it's lost a bit of its bohemian flavour in recent years as the professionals and businessmen have taken over from the student set. Still great wines good food and fine setting.

Make sure you can go on a Sunday night for the open mic jazz. It's a great chance to hear some local talent and a lot of fun. My wife and I came just for drinks and jazz and would do it again if we lived nearer.

Just an incredible little find. Fantastic range of wines and the staff are only to happy to share their knowledge with recommendations in line with your preferences. I took a chance and asked for a red I wouldn't normally go for and it was absolutely delicious! A warm and welcoming establishment and will most definitely be returning when I am next in Edinburgh

This is a great place to catch-up with a friend, nice atmosphere, it's downstairs and is an old wine cellar. Plenty drink options and a decent selection of bar tapas. Not had dinner here yet but menu looks good.

Nice selection of wines and other beverages. The little alcoves let you have a little bit of privacy and makes it easier to chat in.

Also, the staff knew when my hubby had had enough to drink!!

I'd happily visit again.

Atmospheric basement bar with a varied selection of craft and draft beers and an extensive and well chosen wine list. Good bar food and dining menus, Spanish influenced but with a focus on Scottish produce.
