White Deer Run Golf Club Reviews

The setting is lovely and the location works well for everyone coming from all over Lake County. The service is excellent and the food is delicious. The Catering Director, Kendall Nathan and the Assistant Catering Director, Jocelyn Alcantar, could not have been more helpful. They accommodated all of our needs and were extremely flexible. Our Group, the Lake County Round Table of the Illinois P.E.O. Sisterhood, will be returning to White Deer Run Golf Club for the third time next year for their annual Founders' Day Luncheon.

Expensive. But a great course. Maybe a bit tough for high handicappers

This is the best Golf Club in Northeastern Illinois. A great course with abundant challenges for experienced golfers of all levels, absolutely. What really sets it apart is the staff. It is a welcoming place though probably not for troublemakers. The clubhouse and course are well-maintained and a few cuts above, certainly. The people that are a part of White Deer Run do an outstanding job of telling you the 'lay of the land' so to speak and getting you on the course without any baloney. From the guys who deploy the carts & help you with your clubs, to the gents who run the range and check-in at the first tee, to the friendly people at the Golf desk - every person I've encountered is a credit to whomever does the hiring. One day soon, Im going to make it for the Friday Fish Fry and that bar looks pretty good too. I'm not going to tell you everything bc I dont want a traffic jam getting into the place. Have a look. Last but not least, a big thanks to Kathy for helping me out that one day in particular.

We had a most terrible experience this morning at this course. It's in the 90s and the beverage cart came by once on the 14th hole. For these prices, you should really be taking better care of your customers.

the course is in very good condition, green is fast, bunker soft and ample sand, layout is fun and challenge, spend a good time. the price is on high side, so if you can find a deal, go play.

Well maintained. Don't know why they don't have the home numbers out there right now though.

Very nice golf course just a bit expensive for this time of year

We didn't actually play golf, but went to Easter Brunch in the club house restaurant, which has first class decor AND an OUTSTANDING brunch buffet. Plus it has large windows overlooking the course (photo attached).

Greens were in great shape, sand is solid at least for the traps they choose to maintain. Some had no sand, some had a few rocks. The layout is legit, and you need to think through a few tee shots. Maybe 5 will give a risk reward thought.

My husband and I can t say enough about the staff at White Deer Run!! Our wedding was absolutely perfect, and we have the staff at WDR to thank for that! Our day ran smoothly, every little detail was taken care of. We dropped off our decorations two days before, explained how everything should be set up, and it was done perfectly. Our guests were raving about the food-especially the steak! Jocelyn, the coordinator was absolutely fantastic! She would email me on details that needed to be done, and would respond to me very quickly, answering any questions I had. Weddings can be stressful, and they took that all away! I m so glad we were married here-I wouldn t change a thing!! Thank you White Deer Run!!

White Deer Run is a well-run, beautiful location for any event large or small. We had a small bridal shower, and the service and attention to detail was wonderful. I had many compliments from the attendees as to how lovely this venue is. The food by long-time Chef Victor was fabulous. I highly recommend them for a lovely place at a reasonable price.

Had a group event at White Deer Run yesterday and everything was top shelf catering director and assistant were most helpful throughout the planning stages and were on hand during event, food was delicious and served hot, and service was great. Venue was clean and beautiful. We added our own table decorations to the mirror squares furnished by White Deer Run and declined their offer of the candle votives due to our extensive table decorations. A 5 out of 5 score!

They have a really great fish fry. You need reservations and seating is limited. Nice venue and good food for the money.

Great track and in great shape. Greens like lightning. Super friendly staff. Very enjoyable round of golf today. Definitely will return.

The guy in pro shop is very rude. I wanted to play an 18-hole round walking as the course web page clearly stated the twilight walking rate for $39. But the guy insisted in selling me an 10-hole round with cart as he wanted to get off work early. At the end I had to buy a 9-hole round walking instead. If this is the way the course treats its customers then I'll never play in this course again.

Best public golf course in Kake County. Great staff of friendly, professional people who care about their customers. Outstanding dining options at the grill. Chef Victor and staff are to be commended for their creativity and great food.

The food was great, service was above average. The banquet hall was a bit crowded with table set up. Top shelf drinks and since it was open bar and the event was paid for I am unaware of the prices and anything to do with actual golfing. Hope this helps!

Attended a Wedding here and the venue was perfect. They had outdoor space for cocktails and appetizers and then moved in for dinner. Staff was friendly and attentive. It was a smaller event, but, well fit to the space.

Memorial service for my brother. Very nice. They took care of everything for our family.

They do an awesome job hosting outings from the clubhouse to course marshalls along with food and banquet service.

One of the best public courses in Chicagoland. Very well maintained fairways and greens with super friendly staffs. Plus, you must try the fries at clubhouse restaurant. Best fries in the country!!!!

Greens are immaculate. Just kind of pricey. Otherwise 5 stars.

Mark up the prices AFTER you already received a quote and make an appointment to put deposit in 3 wks they email 3 days before the appointment and state the reviewed the date and realized the original quote is wrong and triple the rate
Not worth the tiny room to be treated so poorly

White Deer Run golf facility is a true treasure. From the pro shop, to the driving range, putting and chipping area, and the 18 creative holes of golf, the entire experience is wonderful.

Great course. Fairways supportive. Better be on line coming in to greens, not for the beginner. Overall 4/5. I'll be back. Tks.

Great course but the bunkers are inconsistent. Staff was super friendly and accommodating.

This is my first time here. The range was great. However, we were being watched for 30 minutes until we were unpleasantly yelled at near closing time. I have no idea why we were being watched for 30 minutes without warning. I didn't argue back, but it was extremely upsetting to be suddenly screamed at with a "you're done", "you're finished". Won't be coming back.

Food is okay, I heard the golfing is good I have not golf there. We have our business meetings here. Great place to have an event

This was a great place for my sister to have her wedding! Not only did they accommodate the large bridal party all with carts to drive around for photos, but everyone was VERY friendly. The food was magnificent and the banquet hall was beautiful. All of the golfers, non guests, were even very friendly when driving by, wishing the couple congrats.

Always a great fish fry. I've never seen anyone else do a tempura on their fried cod. It's our favorite.

I was impressed with White Deer Run the minute I set foot on their grounds. Both inside and out the facilities are meticulously well maintained. This means beautiful wedding photos you'll have for a lifetime. The entire staff sweats the details so brides and grooms don't have to. They make sure everything runs smoothly and according to your timeline.
White Deer Run has earned a place as one of my preferred wedding venues. I look forward to officiating more ceremonies here.
